G Class Facelift for 2024

Hello, I was wondering when is Mercedes planning to release the Facelift for the G class .
My Dealership already took the advance payment for the car so I'm expecting it to release soon .
I've been following news on the facelift for the past 4 months and nothing more than some spyshots .

No one really knows... The 2023 model does not have any changes from the 2022 model. There is speculation that the 2024 model may have some minor bumper/fender updates based on spy shots but nothing that is confirmed. My guess is that any “facelift” to the G550/G63 models will coincide with the EQG release, which is reported to come in late 2024.

There is no “facelift” - it’s the G Class. It has looked the same since 1979!
if you’re looking for a facelift, look at another model.

There have been updates to W463 that would be considered facelifts (same with the differences between W460 and W463). Based on the spy shots, W463a is looking to have a facelift with the exterior details tonygwagon mentioned and a modified center stack for the interior.

Same shapes, yes. A lot of changes had been mad throughout the years .

I really hope you are wrong here, I had the choice to order the current one or wait for the facelift with Mbux . And i said it should be worth it to possibly have the last 63 AMG V8 .

2nd. Hence I too put in my deposit a few weeks ago. If gas is on the way out, this is the way to wean off gas cars. Last of the AMG V8s!

Sounds like your dealer is telling you what you want to hear to take your deposit. 2023 DOGs are already out and models are being delivered and there are no changes from the previous year. Also, nothing has been confirmed for 2024… so anyone saying there is a facelift coming and MBUX is simply guessing or hoping

Actually it's quite the opposite. I agree that 2023s are effectively the same as 2022s, however the 2024 is going to be surely facelifted and definitely updated.
This was also announced by the presenter at the new E AMG Cabrio launch recently. Specifically there was a teaser slide during this launch presentation mentioning that they have some "exciting news" for the G in the near future.
This was seconded by my SA when he took the deposit mentioning that these updated cars will be delivered next year. My waiting period says 13-16 months time to deliver on the contract when I signed a month ago.
Link here to the launch presentation, skip to 13:45. It's brief, but he says that they are going to announce something soon.

There will be no change to the V8! No reason to wait.

And MBUX SUX! It’s nowhere near as good as Siri or Google’s offering, and it will not keep getting better as those do. There are plenty of voice commands to activate features in the 2019MY. MBUX is useless.

The “exciting news” for the G is the EQG! This is obvious. It’s coming in 2024.

lol they just say there is a “teaser” for the G and can’t share more, which probably refers to the EQG. Not sure how you got a facelift and MBUX in 2024 from that?? He literally says nothing about that…

Well maybe I got a little ahead in my assumptions and excitement. But I am basing it off what I read in some articles like the one in this link and some of the spy photos on the other thread showing the updated interiors:

https://www.carwale.com/news/mercede...agon-facelift/

And also the fact that my SA confirmed with me at the time of the booking that I will recieve an updated model when I get delivery early next year. (I put the deposit down back in mid-January)

Trust nothing that comes from an SA's mouth. They really don't know anything.
Why do you care about an "updated" model? It's the G wagon, it's always going to look this way. Is MBUX really that important to you? Do you really want to say "Hey Mercedes"? That's novel for about 1 day. then you realize it doesn't work that well and does nothing that the current voice commands don't do that's of any use.

100% agree, SA’s won’t know if the 2024 model will have a “refresh” or not and will tell you anything to get your deposit and the sale…

Another common "trick" is they take your deposit knowing full well they will likely never have a car for you. After a few years of waiting, they try to sell you on another car that's coming in. Classic move.
Some dealers will just move the G wagons at over MSRP to people who don't want to wait, so those on the list will never get one at MSRP.
It's happening with the Civic Type R right now. Once you get tired of waiting, they tell you they have a "great deal" on a GLE63, or what have you. Sometimes the deposit is non-refundable. Check the fine print!

guys we are at least year off if not longer. ‘23’s are being delivered for another year. anyone giving deposits for a “facelift “ is just lending money to the dealer. No allocations yet and no one has information on it.. first up is all electric… no spots to hold… i just told my dealer who we buy alot of family cars to hold me a spot, they said “you’re in”… nothing more nothing less. giving money for a hypothetical car is just plain stupid

Well either way, where I am located, if I want to buy a G, I need to place a deposit with the dealer to get an allocation. The current delivery wait time for getting one after placing a deposit is 12-16 months. So regardless, I need to place the deposit and hope that by the time I get my car, it's the MY24 facelift.

To be honest, I can't possibly care about the features, i just want to get the last model year because it will probably be the last V8 and It will better hold value.

That's just my guess, the shape of the current one is 4 years old so yea... Better to pay the same money for the updated model i guess ( even tho it's no major changes )

It’s not the last V8! The G will always have a V8, at least for many years.
“The shape of the current one is 4 years old” - no, it’s close to 50 years old!
What is with the obsession for the “facelift”?! It’s a G Wagon! It’s never going to be facelifted!
But yeah, start the wait sooner rather than later, I get that.

The facelift is going to come in 2024 and will bring MBUX, new camera locations, updated driver assistance systems and probably minor refreshes to the bumpers.

Good point! And the other thing is that the MBUX cars have the capacative touch controls which everyone seems to hate. I would much rather have the physical controls that move when you interact with them.
