I just installed it tonight and damn it's so easy to do.
John's picture from the original dashcam thread will help you a lot:

You pop off the central piece and then work around the edges of the larger shroud and it should easily pop off without much force. The biggest pain in the rear is the central piece is tied into the larger piece with the plastic anchors (see John's thread again) which you have to free one side by pinching in those barbs in order to get around the rear view mirror.
After that pop off the original harness, plug it into the adapter then connect one end back into the harness and the other to the camera. Pop in the new shroud and central piece and done. Took me like 10-15 minutes total.
Hopefully it works as well as it's designed.

that's awesome!
I actually got the blendmount to work by purchasing an extra link set from blendmount direct for the radar detector. I want to get rid of the vantrue dashcam that's glued to the windshield. I bought the fitcamx with the intention that even if it were to go kaput, I'll at least be able to use the other end of the fitcamx's power cable to power a different dashcam without having to worry about wiring of any sort.

One thing!
I suggest you disconnect it every time your car goes into service because by connecting that harness, you are violating your cars warranty!

@ElioVentrella didn't cross my mind, but probably shouldn't. mirror tapped quite a few in the past especially bmw's even the M's but nobody complained.
update - just like @Hodog16 mentioned earlier, installation was a breeze. captures a nice 4k image and the sound is also pretty good. you don't have to fiddle with the alignment so that's great too.

For those that have this, mine does not automatically turn off when I turn off the car.
It continually records and slowly drains the car battery.
I tried resetting it and also tried long pressing the power button to turn off. It does turn off, but then starts back-up again (without me turning it on again). This is whether the car is off or on. When the car is off, I make sure it's completely off and open the door then re-shut it.
Wondering if I got a faulty one or not.
I have one on my Panamera and it turns of and off (all lights go off when car is off). Right now the blue light is always flashing whether on or off (car).
