G63 market - potential purchase

Hi everyone,

Long time E63s wagon owner here. I'm thinking about purchasing a used G63. For what I have researched, the 21' year and up have the best reliability. As with my previous purchases, I tend to buy CPO and extend the warranty for 1 or 2 years. I know the market is cooling a bit on these cars. One G has caught my eye; a 21' polar white CPO with all the right options. List is 173K with 28K miles and a clean carfax. Does the price sound about right? Any input is appreciated.

2019-2023 are all the same but yes there were recalls for the 2019-2021 model years. The market is also a bit skewed because 2022-2023 cars were priced $22k higher than identical 2019-2021 vehicles, so that 2021 is probably listed very close to its original MSRP despite the mileage.

With 28k miles I'd check on the tire conditions and most importantly the brakes. A brake job on a G63 is crazy expensive, and I bet that car will be coming up on one soon. I'm not sure on the market but I think with 28k miles you could probably get it for less than $173k.

What does a brake job typically cost? In terms of the market, there are a lot of used G63s out there. The price delta between a CPO and non-CPO is a lot. What would most folks think is a good price for the above mentioned G63?

$1700 per rotor and $400 for a set of pads. So in the neighborhood of $4k for front brake parts from mbparts.mbusa.com.

I've been fortunate enough to only have needed one oil change over three G63's, so I don't know offhand but I've heard it can be $8-10k at a dealer once you factor in labor.

$8k for an oil change? It's a plain jane M177 4.0V8TT used in many MBs. $100 or less DIY. A couple hundred $ at an honest indy.

No, $8k for a brake job. I said I've only had an oil change so I don't know how much maintenance is beyond that.

Seems like most of my previous AMG cars need new brakes/rotors around the 40K miles. This is good information to know. I will check on the brakes. Anybody else have thought on the price for my potential purchase?

It’s hard to say without knowing what options the vehicle has…

So basically $5k under MSRP with 28k miles? Seems like a decent price to me. Keep in mind that used G63s were and in some cases still are going for over MSRP.

The OE are Brembo Rotors. If you go to the Brembo website you can see the non MB part numbers and search online.

Fronts: 8020584313138 = $833/ea from Pelican Parts

Rears: 8020584313145 = $317.75/ea from Pelican Parts

Still outrageous but 1/2 the price of the same ones from MB.
