Retrofit 2025 G63 Features to 2019-24 Models
Still early with the release coming tomorrow on the 2025 models, but looks like the 2025 model will include MBUX, keyless access via new door handles, and more aerodynamic trim strips above the windshield and sides of the windshield. Wondering if it would be possible to replace the trim above the windshield with the 2025 version with the spoiler to get lower interior noise. Also would be great if we could retrofit the 2025 handles and locking system to older models to get keyless entry...that would be huge.
I think it's a far shot to replace COMMAND with MBUX, but could be possible...
Thoughts?

MBUX is all but officially confirmed for the 2025. My guess is there will be no retro fit for the trim or keyless entry. Also, it sounds like the aerodynamic changes extend to the A Pillar itself and the front panels.

Not a fan of the new interior at all. It lost the “solidity” you feel with the center console as a slab in the older version. Now just looks like a cheaper A class. It’s really off to me. And I hate the new steering wheel.
The spoiler looks like it’s a glue on, should be fairly easy to install on older model, but we’ll see once we have the parts guide. Keyless entry is the big one for me. If I can retrofit that to my G63, would certainly pay for that. Nothing else is compelling and I like the older model much better.
Even the MBUX seems off on the G. I thought I’d like it, but it makes the dash look so basic now. It’s much more integrated in my GLE53, not so much here.

The new parts are the infotainment system that is now a touchscreen (nice graphics and touchscreen capabilities), the cameras reconstruction image (I don't like where the cameras are placed but I understand why they put them there), hydraulic suspension and keyless entry (that's great and very convenient indeed). Everything else is more or less available from 3rd party manufacturers already.
For example the exterior carbon package, air vents ambient light, blacked out side step, blacked out exhaust tips, AMG illuminated exterior light, updated rear screens, amg fuel tank cover, the newly introduced exterior colour, etc. can be retrofitted to the pre-facelift model. Only think MB forgot to introduce is the starlight headliner .
Personally I like the pre-facelift G63 a bit more. The previous steering wheel was matching better the car, the IWC physical watch was there - although wrongly placed - (but I don't see it anymore), and the center console was matching better the car overall compared to now. It was more unique, now it's like a mix from a-class, gle, etc.
In other words there is nothing with respect to newly introduced features that would make to go and sell my pre-facelift model for the facelift.

Mbux will be retrofitted by the time the facelift comes out, just like how you can retro fit mbux on a 2017 E class. And also here in Dubai, there's a Mercedes workshop that already retrofitted keyless entry months ago on the 2019-2024 G class. Turns out the option is already available In the ECU, you just have to enable it.

My guess is, a full conversion is possible, but without all the new features, like the steering assist, hydraulic suspension etc... But when it comes to screens and the full exterior that will be easy. Also the facelift or what they are calling "all-new" is BS. The car is still using the same exact body frame etc.. Therefore the exterior conversion will be easy. The interior seems to have a slightly redesigned Dash around the screen with a few different angles. But overall, an MBUX retro fit will come for sure. might cost around 6k USD but its coming.

ill tell you why, The g has never gotten MBUX ever, until now with the 2025. The E class and every other Mercedes that previously had command has gotten MBUX years ago, therefore just like how you can do it with a 2017 E class you can also do it to the G. in fact it has always been possible to install it but it would look stupid cus you would either have animations of an E or a GLE/S... And it's a costly retrofit therefore no one has ever done it before. Give it a few months, once we start to see the new 2025 roll out on the streets, the retrofits will eventually come. As for the trackpad in the middle, the roof speaker, the keyless entry is all possible to do now. I'll attach a few pics of the MBUX (trackpad) installed on a G with the new steering wheel. Also a full interior/exterior conversion will come but as we all know the new and improved driver assist features will not be possible to retrofit.

This is an example of an E63 that previously had command.

Usually these upgrades are quite pricey cus you have to change many things including USB ports for it to fully function. Around 6k USD give or take. And yes for some reason the G never really gets the newest tech. Even in 2019, they could've released MBUX on it but they didn't, instead the GLE got MBUX in 2019.

I’d rather have the keyless entry over the mbux…mbux just doesn’t look right on he G after seeing it on the new model.

Avoid the temptation to morph your very own Frankenmobile. I would never buy a pre-owned vehicle that had been "upgraded" in such a way. If the '25 feature package floats your boat, write a check and get in line.

I've made a couple cosmetic and functional changes to my G -- a black grill star, a truly full-size spare tire and aftermarket cover, black wheel caps, auto s/s coded off are examples. But nothing that has torn into the bowels of the vehicle to alter its core OE composition, or that would leave scars. I estimate returning it to fully OE would take me 2 - 3 hours (I've retained all the original take-offs). More extreme customizations such as tunes, lifts, exhausts, etc. don't appeal to me as either an owner or as a potential buyer, even if returned to OE. There's just no assurance that extreme mods were done correctly, that restoration is really complete, or that some consequence of the modification remains lurking to reveal itself at a later time.

It's always a gamble when you buy/sell a used vehicle of any sort. 99% of the time you would be none the wiser of any mods performed by a previous owner - even under scrutiny by a mechanic or offical dealer. Companies who manufacture mods know full well that most people will only do things to their car that won't affect warranty or depreciation down the track - this means the ability to hide the mods or fully reverse with no trace.
I think rule of thumb here is don't buy second hand of any nature if you fear there could be scars lurking beneath. I daresay most performance cars will be modified in some way

fun fact...if the dealer ordered a vehicle with 20 inch wheels and you switched to 22s..the vehicle image in the screen on the dash will still show the 20s; same goes with the night package and the inserts in the bumper..

I had the new MBUX in my 22 SL63 that I traded for a 23 G63. I am very happy I have the “old system”. Much more stable, CarPlay better and doesn’t frequently reboot/stop
Kinda fits w the car better

Hi,
you have PN deactivated. Imjust moved from Germany to Abu Dhabi. I still have my 2022 g63 amg which i do not want to sell and bring it over or maybe sell it. I am still on the, waiting list for themfacelift. Your retrofit, look great and the only thing that was missing on m g-class was the touchscreen navigation wireless apple car play and thr keyless go. Besides thta this car is amaizing and really no need for upgrade to facelift.
can i get the contact or garage in dubai where you retrofitted your system?
thousand thanks!!q
