Same, first time with Magno paint. The ceramic coating is a must! I also will use the reload spray every time I wash it.

The wireless charger isn’t large enough for my iPhone 16 Pro Max. For some reason, the G5 80 wireless charger was large enough for my iPhone 16 Pro Max. I can still use the USBC ports with a MagSafe charger. Kind of disappointing.

I only drove home from the dealership, but I can tell the doors are harder to close. The door seals are thicker than before. I didn’t have wind noise in my 21 or 24.

Craig - Thank you for the info. Too bad about the wireless charging. My S class charging mat works well with the 16 Pro Max.

You’re welcome, yeah, it was disappointing about the wireless charging. I don’t know why the pad would be larger on the G 580. At least there’s 2 USBC ports in the front and 2 in the back. I tried a MagSafe charger and it worked, so not a big deal, just disappointing. There were no USBC ports in the previous G.

Did the ceramic coating change the color, tone or darkness of the paint? I’ve always been told be very careful when coating a matte finish.

Edit: looks the same to me. What product did you use?

Craig – I was able to fit my iPhone 16 Pro Max (without case, camera to the left) onto the wireless charger and it is charging

I’m not sure, I’ll ask Derek and get back to you. It didn’t change the color.

Thanks, I’ll give that a try. I don’t want to take the case off every time I use the wireless charging.

Need a bit of help as I'm trying to gauge if my dealer is not being genuine on honoring our deal.

Long story short; we negotiated as part of another purchase from them a 2025 build which they took our spec, deposit for the G. The car just came in and now the dealer is telling us that they cannot sell us the car citing a new guideline from MB on selling to us out of state. But this didn't stop the signing of the deal earlier; the build and deposit.

Anyone else know if they've implemented a selling block on any G deals for out of state/neighboring states?

Sure, I put it all the way to the left like someone suggested. I’ll take a picture now. It’s a tight fit, but it works. For some reason, the G 580 has more room for my phone. Can’t take a picture without my phone. If a friend comes over, I’ll take a picture of it in the charger.

I think they have someone who offered them more money. I think they’re pulling your leg. If someone purchases it from out of state and exports it before a year, they lose an allocation.

Someone offered the dealer a higher ADM/mark up. If that deal falls through they’ll probably circle back to you……

So my build was finally accepted by the system after several days of checking back in with Net Star and calls to the southeast MB distributor to see what was going on.

I’ve never built a car with MB before, can anyone walk me through the next steps?

Im assuming it gets accepted by the factory and I get a build date, VIN, etc.

Is there anyway to track what’s going on? I saw in the other 2025 G63 build thread how to track once production is complete.

Once it’s accepted, you receive a PO number from your dealer. You don’t receive a VIN until it’s completed. Your dealer is the only way to track it. Hope this helps.
Your dealer should get a production week once your order is accepted.

Thanks for the quick response. There’s a PO number on the build sheet already. I’m assuming this means it’s accepted?

So it really depends on terminology. Putting a build into the computer doesn't really mean much, that just means the dealer put in your spec into the system and it's floating there. The dealer receives allocations from the factory and decides who gets the allocations, and then they get a PO number and marry it to the build put into the system before. The number one thing is to make sure you have a PO number which will be listed on the spec sheet you've seen people post here. If you have a PO number then you will get a G in a few months. If you don't then you're just floating in the system indefinitely.

As for the production dates, Mercedes calls it a production "decade" and it's the week the car is made, like October 2nd decade means the second week of October.

They typically quote delivery about a month after production.

So there is some truth to dealers not really wanting to sell out of state if they can help it, but I've seen it happen enough to know its allowed. Land Rover is notorious for this as bonuses are tied to how many cars are sold within region, but I dont' think Mercedes is as strict.

Typically they want to sell to people who will service the car there.

I’m purchasing my vehicle from an out of state dealership where my family is originally from and has been doing business with for years. They know I’m registering out of state and didn’t seem to care at all. I don’t know if this is based on the ongoing relationship or if there isn’t any repercussions for doing so.

Regardless of policy, seems a little convenient that they’re just figuring this out now.
