Kundenwunsch

Anyone else pursuing custom paint through the Kundenwunsch program?

My build was approved and should be produced in late January '25. Pumped!

More details would be awesome, keeping your spec a secret?

My SA had no idea of this program.. familiar with Ferrari's Tailor Made, Porsche Exclusive, so very curious to see Benz implementation and experience

My dealer helped me request a non-MB color (will keep the color a secret for now, hah). There's a liaison at MB that interfaces with the Kundenwunsch team in Germany for approval. That part only took a few weeks or so. I didn't push the envelope any further (didn't request custom stitching or anything like that) but I believe you can.

Really excited that MB has this option now. Like you said, akin to Porsche's CXX program, Ferrari's program, etc.

I know this was available for the Stuttgart manufactured S-Class and GT and SL cars but the G-class which is manufactured in Austria was exclusively excluded from this program in the USA. Is your custom G-class order in the USA?

Wow super excited to see what color you chose, especially since I'd say Benz's color offerings for the G wagon are already expansive... so you had a color you really wanted or couldn't find!

Either way congrats, you gotta be one of the first to do this around these parts. If MB is going down this road, wonder how far the envelope will be pushed since there are already so many good interior and exterior color choices

The biggest thing I want is a "heritage pack" like the old G wagons with the patterned cloth inserts, headlight grills, Porsche does this for the 911s, I bet Benz will also soon for the $$$

I was considering going this route for a custom colour but fell in love with China Blue when I saw it in person.

I posted this in some other discussion, but for those curious here is an example of the program in Galactic Beam:

Yes, I worked with Mercedes Northern Arizona. They have been fantastic to work with and guide me through the process with Kundenwunsch.

Ordered from the US.

For one-off magno it was 15k for the paint and 4k for the Kundenwunsch process. So 19k in total.

Thanks for the info! I wonder if the issue with mine is that my color (which was approved) is not a MB color. So they might not want to commit to doing it in a magno. Whereas yours looks to be a MB color (but in magno finish), correct?

Correct but we also looked at other non MB colors to be done in Magno finishes as well before deciding on my final choice.

Well, despite feasibility testing, MB just doubled back with my dealer and has now nixed my color choice. Back to the drawing board...

Wait a minute, isn't your car slotted for production this month? How can they approve your color choices and then tell you that they can't do it?

Do you mind sharing their reasons? And what happens to your allocation? When will production take place now?

Production date had been pushed once to late February and now I’m told it’s April. Pretty frustrating. Apparently when they applied my paint to a body panel they weren’t happy with it. It wasn’t the production vehicle but additional testing apparently. It was supposed to be a Ferrari color named Viola Hong Kong. I still have the allocation but need to pick a new color.

Ah ok, so it sounds like they were still going through feasibility testing and it didn't pass their standard.

I'm sorry to hear that. Viola Hong Kong is a beautiful color! One of my friend has it on his 488 Pista and it's pretty awesome. Hopefully your next choice will pass the feasibility testing

Sorry to hear--I just googled that color and wow that would have been amazing on a G63. What "normal" colors would you consider?

I've had Platinum Magno and China Blue on G63's in the past...really like Moonlight White Magno. Maybe Rubellite.

We have a "Stronger that Diamonds" 550 right now so replacing it with something more common is the rub at the moment. I'd hold onto this one but really want a few little things like keyless entry, new mbux, and a heated steering wheel. And having 63 power back First world problems, I know!

So happy I found this thread... when I've asked my dealer about this program they have no idea what I'm talking about. Can anyone give more specifics on how the dealer can engage with this program so I can take advantage of it? I was thinking a Ferrari color as well and didn't want to lose out before my allocation freezes. ALSO, perhaps unrelated, I wanted to black out certain items that aren't doable on the US Configurator.

Is there a contact at MB USA that I can get in touch with?

Hi, the current process with Kundenwunsch will need to be initiated from your dealer to start. The Kundenwunsch lady will then respond to your dealer with your initial request of specific request for a certain color and interior options. From there, she will provide feedback on feasibility, timing and ultimately, cost associated with your requests.

If your order is about to lock, then it is too late for Kundenwunsch on the allocation. You should add in an additional 3-6 months for Kundenwunsch requests for the color and interior options to be accepted by the factory. Also, your order will lock much earlier with Kundenwunsch builds.

Hope this helps!
