2020-2022 CPO G550 as Daily Driver?

My beloved top trim Chevy Suburban was totaled by a negligent driver running a red light. I am fine but the car is toast. Was a fantastic SUV, never a single issue. Now I’m shopping for replacements.

Logically, something like a GMC Yukon XL Denali, Ford Expedition Max Platinum, or Suburban Premier makes the most sense as a replacement. However, I’ve seen a few CPO G550s that are tempting me. They have pretty low miles and good options. Prices are around $110-130k, which is a step up but a Denali plus tax is around $100k so it’s not monumental.

However, I can’t find much info on how they hold up past 50k miles. This would be a long term daily driver for me. I’ve had Audi Q7s before, so I understand the maintenance/service requirements for German cars. I test drove one and loved it, but you can only tell so much in 20 minutes.

I've seen members here mention their mileage past the 50k mark so hopefully they can chime in re reliability, but as far as daily driver duties - G is incredible

Get one that comes with the 7 year 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty from Mercedes. You can extend the original 4 year 50k mile warranty up to another 3 years and another 50k miles. This way you won't have to worry about anything but tires, brakes/rotors, and regular maintenance.

I recommend this on any new car. Get that extended warranty up to 100K miles especially if you are using it as a daily driver.

I have a 2021 G550 with 50k miles that is my daily driver and the vehicle drives just as good as the day I drove it off the lot. As long as you keep it serviced accordingly it shouldn’t have any issues!

Great to hear. My biggest concern wouldn’t so much be reliability as it would be labor intensive ($300/hr) long term maintenance with the hot V setup having everything shoehorned in there. If it’s similar to the typical German car, no problem but not looking to maintain a Cessna.

Standard services are not labor intensive so anything requiring long hours would likely be due to a warranty issue so getting an extended warranty would alleviate those concerns.

2020-2022 G-wagon CPOs are still very expensive.

But in 2 years the current G550 (6-cylinder) and the G580 (EQ) will be relatively cheap?

Any thoughts?

I have 68,000 miles on mine drive it daily every day and on a weekend. I did not get the extended warranty as it was 8K. Only issue I had was my drains clogged to my sunroof which created water in one of the door seals. They fixed it under a Goodwill.great vehicle so far and I drive rough pull trailers, boats off road to hunt camps etc.
