I am new to MB...coming from Range Rover. Wondering how the G63 allocation drops from MB to the dealer work? When I have ordered Range Rovers in the past, the dealer got allocations monthly.
What is your experience of the cadence of allocations of G63 from MB to the dealers?. I am on the list for the next round of allocations, but my dealer said he likely won't get a round of allocations until spring and the next will be summer. Thanks for any insight.

Dealers get allocations from the factory directly. Depending on the dealer they usually get them every few months. I’m sure the bigger dealers get them monthly.
In the past dealers would get the same allocations yearly so they would know when to expect them. They have a list so when allocations come in they call the customers and either put in a build or use one placed before in netstar. A build in the system means nothing until a purchase order number is attached once an allocation is obtained.
Typically you have a few weeks to change the build but then it gets locked by the factory. The allocations come out 2-3 months before the build date and then it’s 4-6 weeks to the dealer.

Thanks. That helps with expectations. Seems MB works a bit differently than other mfg. Appreciate the input.

Sure thing. Once they call you for an allocation you really want to see that PO#, and once you do you are golden. If they can't give you one then something is amiss.

Once they give you a PO number, you have the allocation? And it's for real?
Yup, you need that PO#. Local dealer kept telling me I had an allocation but after 8 weeks they never supplied the PO# so I ended up buying my G 63 from another dealer about 350 miles away. The latter dealer earned my on-going business.
