My car is scheduled to arrive at dealer in about a week.

I asked for pricing on extended warranty as well as wheel/tire/windshield coverage. Here is what I was quoted, curious what others paid for similar levels of coverage:

Extended Warranty

It is through Mercedes. Apparently its same coverage as 4 yr included warranty
Zero deductible
100% refundable if cancelled prior to end of 4 yr warranty

7 years/75K miles $9580
7 years/100K miles $10080


Tire/wheel, windshield, key replacement, dent repair
through Porsche Quality Shield
Zero Deductible
Windshield has to have 6 inch crack to cover. 7k aggregate of windshield coverage
No limit to wheel and tire replacement if needed. Cosmetic wheel repairs limited to 8 total

7 yrs $6220
5 yrs -500 less

If I purchase both, they take $1000 off


Is this high, reasonable, or should I wait and purchase through a 3rd party in a couple years?

it looks like some have paid $6700 for the 7/75 in past. But not sure if this was same warranty and if still accurate.

Looking to hear your thoughts after next week on this. My build date is in May.

 

First, you can purchase through any mb dealer. Shop around. I have gone through jeff jackson at Louisville MB. Someone suggested calling around in no sales tax state. Oregon? If you want to give the business to your dealer, get a low quote, and they will likely match it. And, you don't have to use a mb warranty! Ask your service advisor which plans they like to work with. I believe Fidelity is one of them. Of course, best course may be to skip the warranties and buy a cd or put the money in savings. Then you will have money to draw from if anything bad happens. There is, after all, a reason why they are so happy to sell these plans. My wife extended her warranty to seven years, it cost just over 2k on glc 300. One month before it was to lapse there was a small oil leak that was covered. This was the only time she had any repair to the car! Without the extended warranty, it would have cost just over 2k.

But from what I gathered in that thread, the two best options for purchasing the Mercedes Extended Warranty are:

It appears in past Art has been a little cheaper. Quotes were $7090 from Art for the 7yr/100K coverage, but apparently prices have increased. Latest per that thread was Art quoted $9190 for an already purchased car, it costs 15% less if purchased at time vehicle is purchased.

Lastly, Highline Auto was mentioned as a reputable 3rd party warranty retailer in that thread. I went to their websiteHighline-Autos.com and they have a link to fill out form for Fidelity and Freedom Warranties.

I have contacted Art and Highline. I will post the information I receive to clarify where things now stand.

I went all out when I purchased my '24 G63 last year. I was told by various non-dealer knowledgeable friends to always purchase the warranties (if I choose them) from the dealer as the dealer's shop will always give you priority over other vehicles (including those whom purchased warranties elsewhere) when you bring in your vehicle for maintenance/repair and when the mechanics will get to your vehicle. In addition, they guaranty that I will always receive a loaner for however long the maintenance/repair takes. For me, these perks are invaluable as I have no patience waiting in line. I've brought in my G63 twice (once when I hit my break-in period for an oil change), and another time when one of the 8 cylinders was misfiring. On both occasions, the shop immediately bumped me ahead to the front of the line over every other car when I arrived at the time of my appt (where I live, there is always a line for service at MB in spite of the appointment time). I also received nice loaners on both occasions.

So this is what I have and amounts I paid for (PLEASE - this is only for people's consideration and comparison, so none of the "you overpaid because I know 'so-and-so' who could give it to you for XYZ" or "my cousin is a mechanic and he said XYZ"...):

7 yr/100k Extended Warranty: $10,490
Paint & Dent Protection: $1,335
Wheel & Tire Protection: $4,768
Vehicle Service Contract: $4,,675 (this was a hedge by my accountant and has proven to be a excellent call because my MB shop has already been raising its labor fees significantly due to inflation)

Kindly note that I purchased these products knowing that I would not want to upgrade to the '25 (I was very aware that '24 would be the final year of the V8 without the electric booster motor, which I'm not a fan of - this is a "ME THING" and not an aspersion on the '25 or its owners). I knew I would be holding on to this vehicle for multiple years at least until the 2029 50th anniversary model.

As long as the wheel/tire damage is not the result of off roading, you're covered.

Does the "wheel and tire" protection cover just repairs for wheel damage, or replacements as well with new MB wheels for damaged wheels (from bad curb rashes - not off-roading) that are irreparable or when the repairs would be imperfect relative to originals?

 

If the wheel/tire can be repaired with out replacement, that will be attempted first. If there isn a structural or safety concern, then by all means replacement will be approved. Curb rash is covered as well, doesn't matter if it was caused by a pot hole or drive-thru, repair/replacement covered!

FYI: My experience with the GM, Mike Martinez, at Mercedes-Benz of Santa Fe was disappointing. He took my order for a 2025 G63 at MSRP, contingent on trading in my 2024 G63 with him, but I never received an allocation and my emails and calls eventually went unanswered once the 2026 builds started. Instead of communicating that it was not going to work out, he just stopped responding, and now I am waiting on another dealer’s list to move up for an allocation. Not cool. Very unprofessionally.

 

What a waste of time. I was "on a list" with a Porsche dealer for an MSRP car, 3 years later I got the call, we were now on a completely generation I didn't want, and they wanted $25K ADM on top of the $30K+ in MSRP price increase from when I had joined the list... dealers man.
