Anyone running a Gobi Stealth rack on their w463a+?

Hi G World:

I have long considered a Gobi rack (prefer the "basket type" rack compared to the more flat Frontrunner offering) for my 82 SWB and didn't hesitate to pull the trigger once our 2025 landed.

Just curious if anyone is running a Gobi rack and has any photos or intel to share. If not, I will post pictures once it arrives and goes on the truck.

Thanks in advance.

I didn't order the Gobi roof rack but rather the rear ladder for mine, will be following this thread and post pictures once I am able to install it successfully.

I am so glad to see this thread, as I am considering a GOBI Stealth rack for my 2025 G550 that is currently floating at sea heading to the port in Baltimore, MD. I saw on their website "4-Door G-Wagon AMG G63, 2019-Present", but I was not sure if that also fit the 2025 G550. They only mentioned the G63 AMG, but I assume (which I should not do) would be the same fit as the G550. Do you know if this is correct? I see four choices at the website below, but I believe I would get the "With sunroof" option and pick a lightbar or multi-light set up, but I am not sure. Thank you in advance!

Glad I’m not the only one looking at the Gobi. Though I’ve been looking for years and knew it was what I wanted on the w465.

I spoke to Gobi and am happy to relay the info.

Their w463+ (including the 2025) rack affixes to the factory mounting points. Install their hardware, place and tighten rack … done.

Their ladder clamps to the top and bottom of the rear door. They say that the clamps are fully protected and won’t damage the paint. They also say that the ladder can be used liberally without risk of torquing or bending the door. I will probably PPF the entire rear door or the mounting points for added protection, but they were very confident.

Lastly, lead time is 4-6 weeks. Each rack and ladder are made to order here in the U.S.—aka, no tariffs.

Freight shipping is free.

Thank you so much for the information below, this is extremely helpful. I just want to confirm that this fits both the 2025 G63 and G550? I assume they are identical when it comes to the roof rack and ladder. Do you know the difference between the multi-light and light bar options? I really appreciate your help and I will likely also order this roof rack and ladder - they seem pretty easy to install.

No problem—happy to help.

I think the roof is the same between models, but I suggest calling them. The woman I spoke to was extremely knowledgeable and answered my questions on the spot. The only thing she didn’t know was whether they could make a custom one for my 460 SWB! That is pending.

I order the multi light … without any lights. Not clear what the light bar setup changes but if you don’t plan on installing lights, go multi.

I also ordered it without the front riser so the rack is flat all around. Whatever I strap up there will likely be more for show than go, sadly.

Thank you so much for the additional information, I can't begin to tell you how appreciative I am of you answering my questions. I will definitely call before I order to confirm the rack and ladder fit the G550. I am also going to be ordering the same multi-light rack and no front riser, as I also want the rack flat all around. I do not want to make it any higher or more wind resistant, so trying to keep it streamlined. My home garages are really tall, so I am not worried, but would still like to be able to use most public garages. The only other thing I need to decide is if I do the smooth or textured black pain on the rack and ladder. I assume the smooth black paint since I have the Night Package Plus - plus I am terrible at these things and would love any advice. Which one are you ordering - smooth or textured?
