Hi guys! I've been knocking around here 15 years, been through a couple of G wagons. I ordered a 26 550 last October; dealer says March. It is a Magno monza grey with all sorts of adds; if I could find the order sheet I could put it up. One thing that I'm concerned about is my choice of color, specifically the magno part. My other G's were glossy colors, and I noticed reading the G63 allocation thread that quite a few of you did paint protection. Now, I'm the kind of guy who is going to use this G as it was designed, i.e. off road, fishing and hunting, trips to the boat ramp, camping, and all that. Just wondering what the popular consensus is on this issue. Would a gloss finish stand up better than magno to some moderate abuse, or would it do fine with the protection package? I'm looking forward to tapping the wealth of knowledge here on this forum.
Magno is great in that swirls are non existent and it’s really easy to wipe things away with spot cleaning and it look amazing.
However there were times that water spots or dirt that sat on the paint left shadows when cleared off. Whether this was permanent or not I don’t know.
Scratches from like branches and off roading can only be fixed by painting the panel which is hard to match. If you are really going to off road I’d recommend full PPF.
I didn’t PPF at all but I never drove on highways and got to the point where I didn’t even drive in the rain lol. I know that’s crazy but it wasn’t my primary vehicle so I could be picky.
needless to say I enjoyed my magno experience but glad to be back with gloss.
I personally LOVE the mango colors and look.....but I'd never get the G or any MB model or car in a matte finish. Impossible to correct the paint or color match should the unfortunate need arise....
Congratulations!!! I can't wait to see your new G Wagon, sounds like you are definitely going to get good use out of its iconic capability. I love the look of the magno, it is so sharp on the G wagon!!! I struggled a bit when picking the color, but I went with the metallic because I do drive mine off road and use it for things like hunting and fishing..... It is just so much easier to fix and touch up the metallic paint, especially a more standard paint like I have (Selenite grey). I did not PPF my vehicle, but I would say if you did mango, and you plan to off-road at all, definitely do full body PPF.... Brush marks and such may show up a lot, but you should be protected just fine investing in a good PPF. Great choice though, it's going to look so nice, I am just not that brave and went the easier route. Keep in touch as you route the progress of your G across the Atlantic and delivery.
Looks like the ship docked in Baltimore last night; now we will see how long it takes to proccess!
If you are on the Nereus Highway (as I am), I don’t think the ship has docked yet. It looks like it is at anchor in the harbor, not moored in Baltimore. It seems like it is scheduled to dock this evening.
Just caught my typo above, no thanks to Apple products and their relentless pursuit of maintaining the WORST spell check and auto correction in the entire tech world!!
Thanks for the update. I wasn’t aware there were so many docks there. Huge harbor. When I got on Vesselfinder I saw the satellite view and picked out theVPC. Wonder how many Gs they unloaded this trip. I’m guessing it will be another 2 weeks or so. Ripcordaff, where are yo locat if you don’t mind me asking?
Make sure to inspect the magno paint at pick up. We picked up our 2026 G63 in Magno Hyper Blue and there was a bad white spot on the side of the hood. Our PPF detailer found it. Mercedes puts a bonnet on the hood during transportation and it held in moisture which created the white spot. The dealer used a heat gun which removed the spot 100% but it was a pain having to have the PPF removed and now we have to have it put back on. Mercedes is covering the cost which was nice.
Good tip RJR, I will be sure to check it thoroughly. On another note, I found out there is a VPC in Brunswick. Wonder if my wagon is there instead of frozen in Baltimore.
I am in Kansas City. So I’m likewise assuming 10-14 days for delivery.
I wonder if this snowstorm is going to delay things up there
Well, they are talking blizzard, something as a Texan I'm completely unfamiliar with. I can only imagine it will slow the process but maybe for just a few days.

No blizzard in Baltimore. We had snow last night but was roads are pretty much clear by 10AM.
remember the anxiety and anticipation of waiting for a new G . It will be here @Hodog16 Looks like you have been trading G almost every year. I have a 2023 with only 2700 miles on it . like you, not my primary ride and mostly sits in garage. Is it worth trading in your opinion ?

Hey I like the new 2025+ features so from that standpoint it may be worth trading in.
Mileage-wise you are okay but you'll get dinged for the years. Between the market softening and the MSRP going up, it is becoming harder to justify a change every year, but as long as my depreciation per month remains reasonable I'll try to do it.

@Hodog16 what has been your depreciation experience by trading every year? I tried but failed to find a dealer to sell to within a years time, so I still have my 2024 and am on the list for a 2027. So it will be 3-years old when I trade. I feel like my depreciation is running around $2k a month.
Looking purely at depreciation for trade in and not the price increases, it's most recently been about $700-800 a month depreciation for my last two trades--the white 2024 and the dark olive 2025.
I only have to pay taxes (3%) on the difference so that helps a lot, although Mercedes' price increases have not. I'll probably try to continue to do so as long as the depreciation is reasonable and Mercedes stops jacking the price up. I think the market during the pandemic and recently has shown that the limits of what people want to pay for a G63 are around $230-240k.
Has anyone received an update on their car at VPC Baltimore? Mine landed a week or two ago (before the big storm) but I was just told that delivery has been delayed yet again until the 19th.
This bad boy was on the same boat, but went on to Georgia. I picked it up last Friday and I'm so tickled with it I can't stand it! Everything is perfect! Hope you get yours soon!
