Apparently it has a fuel bill to go with the stunning times ..... it must really hurt to be on a first name basis with the gas station attendant.

......K2 includes pulley, ECU headers. K3 involves the addition of camshafts and I am sure will provide the additional mid range punch to get the truck into the 12's.

.......launching the G55 is easier than a rear wheel drive car. However, because less skill is involved, it is a bit harder to improve on your 60 ft time. You can't really do a burnout in a full time 4 wheel drive car. This turns out to be a problem, becacuse with the K2, the truck's tires spin off the line if you simply punch it. I have Nitto 305/55/18 drag radials on the truck that I cannot make full use of because they need to be heated up by doing a burn out. My thinking is that to get the truck into the 12's, one does not need addtional low end punch after the K2, rather one would need to improve mid range punch and trap speed. Currently mine has a trapspeed of 104.3mph. An addtional 2mph should easily get the truck into the 12's. Will post results.

Turning the traction control on dash ,does not help either ,since it kicks in automatically as soon as you start moving and retards the power all the way to 30-40 mph.
You have to go through the whole procedure to defeat it completely(losing all the electronic assists in the process)in other words ,go to the dyno mode.
Last Summer did it and dropped from 13.2/104mph (traction on) to 12.8/112mph in dyno mode.
Both runs done at 4:30 am (cool 60s),within minutes of each other ,using G-tech for comparison purposes.

............thanks for the info. I have never used G-tech. Does G-tech give you info on 60 ft time? if so, do you remember what your 60ft times were?

That is a hell of a 1/4 time along with other runs for an SUV... an SUV, fellas! All hail AMG.

.........the other car was a Camaro. Interestingly, there were no other SUV's on the track that day, so all the cars I ran against, needless to say, were quite shocked. One guy took a picture of the timeslip because he said his friends would not believe him otherwise. My next plan is to get the G55 into the 12's. I should have results in 2 weeks.

only a 1.9 60ft time? I guess its b/c the truck is so heavy but I would expect a 1.7-1.8 60ft time with 4WD and all that torque!!

ESP is the culprit, even turned off kicks back in after about 20mph.
In dyno mode you get a perfect launch with lots of smoke and a drop almost 0.5 s in a 1/4 mile.

..........I am not sure this is completely correct. I have raced the G55 in dyno mode and the ESP always kicks in. Even when you dyno the car, the ESP will kick in in dyno mode. The trick around this while performing a dyno is to slowly feather the gas pedal until past 3500rpm then mash it down. When you perform such a feather on the drags, you get even worse 60ft time. One option is to lock the center and rear diffs. This will disable ESP and ABS, but is a bit dangerous if you have to turn for any reason or when you want to exit into the out ramp at the end of the your run.

Ted,

The guys at Kleemann were able to disengage my traction control and it really helped with my launch. Send them an E-Mail if you're interested and they'll tell you how to do it. Impressive times.

.............thanks. I'm having Camshafts and Larger throttle body installed next week. I'll check on how to disable traction control.
