2003 G55

Hi all,
So I finally made the deal happen and traded in my E500 for an 2003 G55. Love the car and found out that you can remap the engine to get .5 second faster in the 0-60. Personally I wanted the 05 G55 but they're not around at all.
Anyways, need some hekp from you guys who are familiar witht his car. How many km's or miles do you actaully get on a full tank ? I assume the gas mileage is better than an escalade or hummer ?
Also, is there anything I can do to the car to make it a bit faster ?
Where can I order a Chrome Bush or Brush Bar ?
Thanks,

Congratulations on your new purchase and welcome to the forum. Who told you there were no '05 G55s available?? Currently my local dealer has three and there are always several new and preowned on cars.com, autotrader and ebay. With regard to getting any real power out of your NA G55 I would recommend contacting Renntech, http://www.renntechmercedes.com/ Kleemann, http://www.kleemannusa.com/ or Brabus http://www.brabus.com/ however, expect to spend all that money you saved over the '05. IMO the best place to order a stainless brush guard would be your local MB dealer. Ordering this item direct from Europe would not be cost effective along with the added stress of possible damage. Gas consumption, is actually quite acceptable, (14/15) considering motor displacement and the hefty weight of the G, http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymod..._G-Class.shtml. It's air pollution score is another story!

i wouldnt expect better mileage with the G vs. pretty much anything else. the aerodynamics and power of the motor are the cause of that! i have no first-hand knowledge.

G55

No I live in Canada and they are only 2 2005 G55's out here. Hey AGR, thanks for the posts and the links... I was thinking of buying some dubs but with a thicker tire to fill in the wheel well perhaps 20 X 10 with 65 series tires. Does anyone have any pics of their G55 as well ?

Exclamation G55

So what do you guys recommend I do ? I would love to see the 0-60 speed be a little faster ? Right now it looks like its about 0-60 at 7.4 secs... Also If I do any re-map or engine mod will it effect the gas mileage ?

dez....It's all according to your budget. My suggestion was to contact the G tuners directly and discuss avail. mods. predicated on your budget or best bang for the $. Interesting....Your driving a G and concerned about gas mileage?? Have you actually purchased your G yet? And yes, re-mapping your ECU will effect gas mileage slightly as this may alter shift time and or raise RPM limiter.

Although personal if you do purchase 20"+ Dubs, spinners etc. you will be ineligible to join the G enthusiasts club!! Seriously, this is not a GMC or Escalade. If you must replace your stock rims consider, 19" Brabus or HRE.

Dez...You have a PM

Yep, LA is THE car captial. Were having some pretty severe rain right now but that dosen't stop some from bringing out their toys. I went to the gym this afternoon and there was a Carrera GT, 360 and 430 in the parking lot....
Just another day in So. CA.
