xneon headlamps

2003 SL500 2005 G55

xneon headlamps

I want to have xneon lights installed but im nervous about messing up the computer system. Has anyone done this before? or does it mess up the computer system?

.............I have bi-xenons. The computer needs to be re-programed to recognize the xenons. Does not mess up anything.

Do you have the xneon foglights too?? also who should program the computer for me?? benz dealer??

............I do not have xenon fog lamps. As far as programming, dealers in North America are not generally going to be user friendly. If the person doing your install does not know how to do it, then you may be stuck. One option is to purchase from ORC. Ask for a lady called Danielle. ORC sells the Xenon headlights as well as a module with which you do not need computer reprogramming.

Thanks for your help Ted, I got one more question........I heard that the aftermarket xneons go out alot...you ever had this problem??? and also i heard they kill the battery???

...........I don't really know what you mean by the xenons going out a lot. There are those who have nothing good to say about aftermarket modifications. For reasons not clear to me, most of them are in the S class forum here and the G class forum on MBNZ.org. Like anything else, quality varies. I got my xenons from ORC and had an experienced person intall them. Absolutely not a single issue. I even transfered them from my 03 G55 to my 05 G55. I have had them for 4 years now.

I had them installed in a bmw 325 and the fog kept going out and one of the headlights flickers alot and i know the g55 has way more technology than the 3 series and i was just wondering if it would effect the g55 more.

thats what i was thinking....maybe installing the new headlamps and fogs from the 07 on my 05....but it might be too expensive like maybe around $2,000-$2,500.
