squeakly door latches
Periodically, the doors on the G55 seem to make a squeaking noise. The dealer says the doors need to be "Adjusted" and fix it.
Is this something common?
It's been the Pass front door, then the RR door, now the driver's door. It's a very noticeable LOUD squeak noise.
Also, I'm trying to soften the "hit" over bumps (seem to bottom out, but appears also to be extremely stiff rebound dampening of the front shocks). Maybe that's a cause of the problem of "loosening doors".
The doors close solidly. That's really not the issue. any advice out there?

Happens to almost all G-wagens. The doors usually require some adjustment after leaving the factory and being driven for a while. I only had to have this done once. After that, occasional spraying of a lubricant spray by my dealer at every service is all that's required. I'm not sure what they use, but it's a special type of lubricant recommended by MB. Maybe DUTCH or someone else can shed light on this.
My MB dealer in Dubai is FAR from perfect, but one thing they do know is the G-wagen as they have been selling them for twenty years and sell a lot of them. They knew exactly what to do about the squeaking.

It actually begins with the squeaking and usually ends up with a door that won't open. I know it sounds strange, but the squeaking has happened to all 4 in 50k miles and two of them have failed to open when they were squeaking pretty badly.
I was curious if perhaps the G55 had more of a problem because of it's inherently rougher ride.

there is a silicone liquid available from MB; it's used on the squeaky seals of the "SL" hardtop. your dealer will usually just give/sell you the small (25ml-50ml) bottle if you ask them. get a small thick-bristled paint brush, apply directly to brush and paint over the rubber seals around the 4-doors and the rear door. you won't hear another squeak...until you ned to apply more.

The service managers seem so clueless on this. I'll inquire the next time I'm in for service.
thanks again.

The product is "Special Sliding Compound, Lubricating oil". The part number is A 000 989 36 60. It's what MB use on SL roofs to stop the squeaking. Good luck.
