g55 snow tire

does anybody make a dedicated snow tire for a g55 if I want better traction than the pirelli all seasons ? I would want something to fit the stock wheels without having to change them. My dealer that sells Nokian tires is telling me to get Nokian all season plus which he says will be much better in the snow but the size is 255, 55, 19 vs the stock 275, 55, 19 that comes with the car. anybody know if this set up would be a smart idea or not ? Thanks in advance.

g55 snow tires

actually pirelli snow and ice in 265 55 19 seems like the best fit has anybody used these in the snow on a g55?

Forget the Pirellis.

Get the 255-60-19 from Blizzak. They're narrower and thus better in snow.

Nothing beats Blizzak for the winter. Damon from tirerack.com swears by it.

what % just the blizzak set change the overall diamater. the pirelli changes it only 1% . Generally they say to say withi 3% but I think you really want to stay within 2%. The complaint I hear with blizzak is that they give up too much performance on dry roads

The diameter difference is 0.46%

You can check it out here: www.1010tires.com

I was not aware of the performance trade-off with the Blizzak. I will inquire bc I already ordered and received 5 Blizzak waiting to be mounted on my upcoming G55.

What do you care about performance in the winter? The whole point of having snow tires is to move about in the snow. You should worry about performance if you are requesting snow tires.

I used Blizzacks last year when I went on a ski trip. They worked great.

Because where I live in the NYC area we dont get snow as often as VT or Maine. Most of the time it is wet or dry but not heavy snow. So I dont want a tire that will give up some safety in the dry but is terrific in packed snow. When I say performance I mean safety.

I am not sure how performance and safety are the same but winter tires soften in cold temperatures and provide the required safety. It's not only for snow.

There are 2 types of winter tires: snow and ice&snow. If you don't get that much snow in NYC, then go for a snow winter tire; the pirelli would fit into that category.

The Blizzak I suggested fit into the ice&snow category and are better in heavy winter/snow regions like here in Montreal.
