Outside the US, those items are optional...but unfortunately not in the US. You can always remove them and sell them on eBay...Originally Posted by clspread

you can remove them or do what I did have all the chrome parts done in matte black. it looks much better that way in my opinion. I tried posting pics but they wont load for some reason. if you pm me with your email I will send them you.
removing them will leave holes in car though i would think. arent they fastened with screws?
Removing mine left holes. I got some body/interior plus, color matched them to paint and epoxied them in place. The only ones I haven't covered yet are the turn signal guards- very small holes there.

clsamg...MBUSA has always imported the G55 with all the grills on it, that's why it's strange that one may have been sold in the US without it. Outside the US they are options (a good thing).

This has certainly been done in the past and is not much different than ordering a custom color from the factory. It's a pain for the factory since all USA spec units have them automatically installed on the assembly line. So changing this causes a lot of headaches for the folks in Graz and Stuttgart. The dealer also has to commit to the car which is NOT something they like to do.
Your dealer can special order the car (in your name) through MBUSA. You will certainly not get a discount and MBUSA will likely charge you a pretty steep Special Order fee.
MBUSA will initially say "No" , but with some persistence and willingness to wait six months it has been done in the past.
Is it really worth it though? The only benefit is a few less holes in your bumper.
