I have been having alot of problems lately with my G55. The first thing is the hood latch keeps breaking and and the rear tire cover looks like it's going to fall off. The most annoying thing is the doors never open, right now my rear doors don't open at all......but that's not all, the other morning I left my house to get coffee like every other day and while I was driving the gas pedal snapped on me! Just completly broke off. I had to pull over to the side of the road and had to have it towed. I got it to Mercedes and they called me up and started naming off numbers for what it's going to cost me for the pedal,doors,hood latch etc and when I told them I had bought a 10 year extended warrenty when I bought the car 4 1/2 years ago (which I paid $4,000.00 for) they told me that only covered to engine not other defects after fighting with them for alittle bit telling them that they are safety hazzards thy agreed to cover the needed repairs under warrenty. Anyways, I had enjoyed this truck for sometime now but it's getting annoying I paid $100 grand for a car that falls apart etc.....I want to stay with a SUV since I got the SL and so on, I was thinking about the platinum escalade or Range rover supercharged??do anyone know much about these? And if so how do you like them?

I had a good experience with my 2008 full size RR supercharged, the 2010 has a bigger motor and a few updated electronics but not that different. I recently sold my g55 as it was not the right car for my needs and I am looking for another full size SUV myself. I am debating between the RR SC as well and the Lexus LX570. I have never been a fan of Asian cars but was very impressed by my one test drive in the lx570, I think it seemed much nicer than the range rover.

Yeah I'm also looking at the new BMW X6 M......but I really like the new escalade platinum with the new LED head lights etc......

I find it interesting that those who only buy new Mercs and trade in and out for a newer Merc always seem to be the type that have problems with vehicles...

Maybe those who are more of the " buy and hold " automobile enthusiast tend to monitor condition of their vehicles and not allow a minor problem to become major...

Yes I only kept it a short period of time. I loved the truck in terms of looks and the feeling being inside it but for drives over 10 minutes with anybody but myself it was just not a practical choice for me. I was aware of this when I bought it but thought I would be ok with it. In the end I decided if I have a $100,000 SUV I wanted something more versatile for longer trips more space for the kids etc. For now I have not replaced it but if I do get another SUV I am debating the RR SC or Lexus LX 570. For now I am enjoying my new panamera turbo.

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the G55!

Currently have a 2002 G500 and "had" a 2005 G55 AMG, and truth, they have been magnificent vehicles, especially given the Canadian winters.

I'd hate to be the one to to remind you but the cost of the extented warranty is really inconsequential when you drive these types of vehicles. If it makes you "feel" that peace of mind to have the ext. warranty, then snap up it! Myself, no-thanks as I've been very fortunate over the years with M.BENZ and I certainly couldn't be bothered on the G-wagens with the ext. warranty. I simply say it costs me a few thousand to drive it annually and that's just the cost of ownership.

As for the laddy who's considering the LX570... nice, very nice! A few years ago I drove a LX470 and truth, it was a typical "asian" vehicle... REFRIGERATOR. You plug it in, and it'll never fail u.

I love the panamera turbo. I also miss the G but with a family the G really was not that practical. I still go back and forth on what to replace it with and at times still consider just getting another G.

It's all good. I miss the Panamera is awesome. I took delivery of my G55 not too long ago and loving every second of it. I am looking to get another R8, the V10 this time.
