2009 CLS63 AMG and soon to be 2011 G55 AMG
2011 G55

Hey
I have just ordered a 2011 G55 AMG through my Mercedes Dealer. I ordered the car in designo magno platinum with ivory interior and black wood.
I know that the 2010 model has a new dash and new seats as well as this new color. Does anyone know if there are any new options on the 2011 model?? I appreciate the help.

Congrats on your order. I doubt that there are new options for the '11 model. Like you said: '10 comes with leather dash, E-class modified seats; it also has the S-class interior ambient light.

ps: the black wood is actually piano black; not really wood, more like a really nice plastic. At least doesn't feel like wood in mine.

Quote from 2010 MB site..."The line-up now also includes the exquisite designo leather upholstery in classic red or black as well as designo wood trim in black piano lacquer"

Did you get a discount now that the Euro has fallen drastically?

Also, what was the final price you bought the 2011 model?

I will be booking one in a few months.

I highly doubt significant discount on '11 models. Although it's the exact same car. You get 5K$ off on '10 now.

Auto sales are still down and it's a buyers market. Many dealers are offering their 2010 G inventory below invoice. I don't believe we currently have confirmed specs or prices in the US on the 2011 models.

So much ambiguity. My dealer confirmed 2011 G-class will be the same exact car but will have the changes in 2012.

Car dealers are not the most reliable source for information, and neither are the automotive press unfortunately.

Good point. I just cannot get to associate "turbos" with the G-class.

Except no more rear tail lamp chrome covers on AMG. MY'10 the last year.

I think it would look nice if they got rid of the front and rear chrome light covers as well as the brush guard.

What's so bad about them?

If the rumored front-end facelift does happen for the 2011 model to conform to EU pedestrian safety regulations, then the brush guard will probably be dropped. Without the brush guard, there's no point (aesthetically) of having any lamp guards elsewhere.

I wonder how they measure the safety of the vehicle with respect to pedestrians.

Do they hit them and measure how bad it was ?

The rumored face lift pictures of G55 show that the front will be less boxy and will have less angle with respect to the ground. They might as well reduce the weight of the car cause that adds a lot to the strength of the hit during the accident.

Aesthetically, I couldn't agree more...(all or none in my opinion).
But they were removed due to Federal MY'11 guidelines.

Brush guard has not been allowed on EU civilian 463's for many years now. They got around the Pedestrian redesign simply because of its low volume status...that is until the 2015 announcement.
MBUSA was getting them installed just because they could; primarily because they thought it would help justify the +$100K price tag.

The 463 is not going to change for four more years of production. At best there will be a tweak that will come in the same proportion as all other "facelifts" and will only be discernible to people who own one.

Otherwise the Baumuster would change to something like V/W464.

What all other brands call a "model year changeover" (new wheel design / new front grille) The G folks call a "facelift".
