what color is this g55 ?

Pictures and lighting typically make it difficult to nail a color but from where I'm sittin I'd say, Verde Brook. Obviously this is not a US example however, for the US the only green available for the MY10/11 G is Verde Brook.

Looks like designo platinum black metallic to me...not offered in the US as far as I know.

It's the Verde. I sat in it at the show as I'm still waiting for mine. I've got platinum black on my C63T with designo sand leather and love it. Plan on getting it on my next car also.

thanks, did it look as good in person as it does in this pic ? I have not seen the color in person. when you say waiting for yours, you are waiting for a verde g55 or just a g55 ? if your is verde as well please post more pics , thanks in advance

I thought it was a nice colour, but had a cola-esque tinge to it under halogens which I didn't like too much.
I'm waiting for a Graphite G55 due in a few months.

hi, the colour is designo Platinum Black, I had it om my G320 cdi 2009 and it is a very nice colour. Not to be mistaken with Designo Mocha Black! That one looks like cola. I now have one of the few G55AMG in Magno Platin. Very cool car and in the shows it did realy well. I'm now selling it to order the G63 AMG, yes the G63 AMG coming 2012! Because AMG is building this 5.5 engine all by itself it is very nice and you can upgrade it from the standard 525hp to 570 hp with the sports packedge! Since the can also paint in their own AMG Studio I will order in grey matt finish and complete with, yes, B&O sound system!

so it sounds like some people that saw the car is person think it is platinum blk some think verde green. if anybody has any more pics of the truck in platinum blk please post. thanks in advance

Like I said, it's not platinum black. I have a platinum black car and saw the car in question on two occasions including the motor show.

P.s. Why no info on this so called G63??

A G63 for 2012 has been rumored for some time. Originally people though it would use the 6.2L NA V8, but clearly the intention was to wait for the TT 5.5L engine being rolled out this model year. This may be the last upgrade to the AMG G-Class before the end of production of the current W463 which Mercedes has said would be in 2015. Whether there will be a W464 in 2016 or production of the 463 will be extended again is not clear.

Yes it does. You should also check out the Irridium silver (basically MB's standard silver color). Looks great. Very military looking.
