Buying G55 to hold me over until G63 - how bad will it be when I sell?
tl;dr - I would just assume 10k of transaction costs between buying / selling / taxes, etc.. Post pics if you buy

To contrast: a 2011 magno night black G55 with 3K miles was listed at 119K in a MB dealer in Boston recently. They accepted 115K and could have gone down more.
The G class is a strange ride. Back in 02 I paid 72k for mine. It dropped about 25k the first year I had. Second year about 15. Going by what they offered for it on trade for E55. Where showing 30 ish for it with 30k miles. I said heck with that and kept it. Sold It 5 years later 28k. But by that point it had 125k miles. Now we are in 2012 and those early years are still 20+ rides.
However the amg cars across the line of mb seem to take a bigger hit. Also keep in mind that the very few customers that want a G55 or 63 are slim, and if they have the money to to do it they will not want a new " old" version.
Jump on line and glance at a 06 S65 vs 07. Or SL, cl etc. Granted they have huge body style make overs that the g will never have, but for the one that buy them they are not interested in the new old stuff.

I wouldn't pay a $ more than $100k for a 2011 whether it has 30k miles or 5k. It has become the most recent "old" G. As you are surely aware, they've basically been identical for 2010 and 2011 so you might also find yourself "biding your time" just fine a 2010, push that purchase price down to about $95k. Then don't worry at all about resale but get rid of it before any talk of the 2014 is starting to rumor.
For a few years the 2008 G55 was a strong resale at $80+ but now they are littering the sale websites and lingering for months dropping into low 70's, and still sitting there.
The 2009 G55 got the first ventilated seats and some silly styling cues that remained through 2012 on the G550.
Your question is sort of a silly one because nobody has the answer. I think you are asking the wrong question. It should be: How little can I pay for a 2010 or 2011 G55? In 6 months you will be selling against a market of used G63....

For $111k they ought to also include the maintenance plan.

You provide yet another clear example of where the stereotype "more money than brains" came from.
