Hi,

Is there any chance that the interior leather aka the seat covers and door inserts are transferrable from a G63 to a 55? Loving the diamond quilting in the new cars compared to my ruffled 2011 models.

Almost certainly. However, a quality leather upholstery shop could probably redo your side panels and seats for far less than the cost of the parts from MB. The ruffled inserts are a joke and are up there with my least favorite aspect of the car. The diamond stitch on the new seats is fantastic but the designo seats are fine. I've been thinking about having the ruffled inserts redone with an airleather finish to match the seats. Haven't got around to it. Not really that bothered.

Quote: I would think differently about upgrading the pre-09s bits to a some of the more modern bits (fogs, side mirrors, brush guards) as some of those look really dated; but that's about it. But as the OP states, with the 2005, I can see wanting to make these updates since some of those parts are starting to show their age.
side mirrors and brush guards are unchanged from MY03 thru MY12. Headlights, fogs and taillights changed in MY07.5

Hi Ted,

Any updates or photos of your G63 front bumper installation?

I am about to purchase it, and just want to know if there's anything i should look out for during installation.

Thanks.

I have a complete front bumper that bolts in as the OE. If you have the 55 than you would just cut the corner of the front wheel arch and you are done. If not I have 55 arches as well. As far as grill and headlight covers you could pick them up off ebay. I can help you with choosing the correct and better made one once you are ready to purchase. PM or email me if you have any other questions.

Sorry but kit convertions are for posers.

I recently saw an old G550 with a replica G63 body kit and it was hideous.

You are absolutely right if and when referring to a kit. What I'm referring to is aftermarket 100% identical parts that would fit the original like an OE.

Old thread, I know, but I finally got around to changing the DRL cluster to my g55 (which I bought already facelifted to G63).
Fog lights never worked. The wires are there, and so is the annoying message on the dash.

the DRL run properly - engine on, lights on, but the fog lights obviously don't.

any idea how to fix this? Shall i fit two small fog lights behind the grilles in the bumper? That's the only solution I can think of.

Thanks for reading.

Did you ever resolve this FOG light dilemma ? I am about to upgrade and trying to figure out what i am going to do with the existing FOG light.

Hi, not yet, another reader did suggest two options:

- install small led lights to close the circuit and cancel the error
- put a resistance in the circuit to do the same.

I'm shipping my car to the UK soon so when it's there I'll get around to do the bits that it needs.

Got you. Thanks for the response. Do you have any idea what type of resistance will work for this 2005 G55 ?
