G cab

anybody here own or have you owned a G cab ? If so curious to hear any feedback on how you like or disliked the truck. getting a nice low mile g cab here in the US is not far away in price from a new g63.

There is a white one that I see quite often. I'm not really a fan. Never been inside one but there looks to be a lot of design compromises. The brake light gets relocated to the spare tire hub. The angle of the roof line at the rear slopes back and this sort of ruins the classic g-lines. But they are still a G and for that they'll always hold a place in my heart.

I assume they will make a G63 cab at some point.

Where do these G cabs come from anyway? Can you order them straight up from the dealer or do they need to be imported?

2011 G55
I have one being built. Will report back when I take delivery by this summer. Ordered it in Germany and I will ship it to the Middle East. Only made for Europe. ROW needs to import it and ship it yourself.

I doubt there will ever be a G63. There would have been a G55 otherwise.

Yes I am aware that to get one in the US you need to import then spend about $25k converting it to pass regs here. Hence, why it ends up costing the same to buy a used 20-30k g cab as a new g63. I saw used one because 2005/2006 are last yrs you are allowed to bring them in. Cant import a brand new one

Unless its got Diplomatic or Distributor plates I doubt its the real deal. There's a few newer look-a-likes here in LA however, they're just updated earlier models with badging.

Correct no legal imported G63 cabs here. There are a few G55 cabs here in the US but the number of those is between 3 and 5 I believe.

Drove by the 2011 G55 cab again yesterday and although I didn't get out to really inspect the truck I would be surprised if this is an updated older spec Gwagon. Has all the trimmings, designo leather interior. I'm not going to post up a picture out of respect to the owner who probably doesn't want their car randomly posted online. I'll take a closer look at some point.

Curious, what makes you think this is anything but an updated earlier model?

The main reason is that it's trimmed out to a 2011 spec with no brush guards. And it showed up in 2011. It also has a modern interior. I'll just go a take a peek inside the dash which should help to rectify the answer. I'm not sure of anything. But if you were updating a g cab why now put on the brush guards etc. but anything is possible. Let me know if there is anything g specific to loi for on a g cab.

FYI, this pic was posted elsewhere but it is the G Cab I've seen around the city. Although the one I've seen has a different license plate.

It's almost certainly a 2011. Never considered that it could be a conversion and not an authentic g cab. Hence my confusion.
