G63 Down Under
Here's the option list that I went with
Designo Magno Platinum paint (matte silver 051/056)
Designo exclusive package (PA6) - black with tan quilting in the centre of the seats
Rubber floor mats for loading compartment and front passenger (PA2)
Garage door opener (YF9)
Partition net (DN1)
Protection bar (C75)
Rear mudflaps (P48)
AMG carbon fibre trim (ZG6)
Rear iPad kit
Custom carbon fibre steering wheel from John @ MAcarbon
Here's some pics of it at the dealer during pre delivery

What's better than one new G63.... Easy, two new G63's.....A friend of mine ordered his at the same time and we did the delivery together. Very similar spec, wheels and brush bar are the main difference:

Here's a couple of pics of the custom wheel that John from MAcarbon did for me, this is the first G63 wheel that they produced and the quality is unbelievable. I'll post a better pic front on shortly. You can see the alcantara and stitching on the wheel hub. John matched the stitching on the wheel to the tan quilting in the centre of the seats so it looks far better than the stock wheel that Mercedes supply. He also did the two wheel spokes in carbon as well which really sets the wheel off.

I've got it up in the snow this week so will post up some more pics when I get a chance.
I swore that I wouldn't modify this one after doing the G55....
I'll start with a Renntech ECU and an exhaust mod... that should just about do it.... for now...

Thanks, wasn't sure whether to go with the brush bar but glad I did in the end.

I drove both yesterday and back to back the difference is very noticeable. If you have never driven a G63 you would be entirely comfortable in the G55 but stepping out of it straight into the G63 the first thing you notice is the generational change in the interior. The seats are more supportive and "ergonomics" is no longer a foreign term. Its the small things you notice such as the positioning of the Command screen, blind spot assist, adaptive cruise etc etc.
With regards to performance the numbers on paper don't do justice to how different the two feel. My G55 has the Kleeman Stage IV kit so it pulls a bit harder than normal but as above it is very "raw" in the delivery of the power. There is a significant difference in the feel of the brakes as well. My G55 has the Brembo Big Brake Kit so it may not be an ideal comparison. I noticed that the brakes bite a lot quicker and with more force on my G55 than they do on the G63. However the stock G63 brakes are a gigantic leap over the original stock G55 brakes. I would say the G63 stock brakes are now very close to if not equal to the Brembo Big Brake Kit.
I think a lot of the difference with the acceleration comes down to the new 7 speed transmission in the G63. This has dramatically changed the feel of the acceleration and available torque on kickdown. The G55 doesn't have the gearing options so sometimes you can find yourself at redline on kickdown and then outside the power curve when it takes the next gear, can be frustrating at times. At the end of the day it's all subjective as well.
To sum up I'd say that the G63 is a significant evolution over the G55. It retains the age old (and what is now iconic) box shape but with a far more modern 2013 interior and feel. For those with the means it is certainly worth the upgrade.
Took a pic of my G55 and G63 together yesterday in the rain (quality isn't too good):
Thank You
Both the dealers in Manhattan & MB of Brooklyn offered me the iPad kit last summer when I bought mine. Check with either and they should know what to order..
Another option is the aftermarket DVD system that MB of Brooklyn offers..
Good luck.
