2011 G55 Shock Swap to G550 Shocks

I did the shock swap. Pick it up tomorrow.

After a ton of research and asking too many questions. Here is what I did. Replaced the stock G55 shock with the Bilstein equivalent.

MB pn#
0063230220/0053261700

Bilstein pn#
24-017275
24-017282

Paid about $160 per sock. They are direct bolt on. Cost me $500 to have them installed.

Get truck back tomorrow will let you know about ride improvement and height change if there is any.

SOOO MUCH BETTER!! I Love it. Much smoother and no jolting in my back.

IDK why MB doesnt already do this.

Also ride height is the same.

The stock shocks are Bilsteins. You can send them back to Bilstein to have them rebuilt and PERHAPS revolved to fit the camping curve of the new one. When I get some extra coin I may replace mine with the yellow/blue ones.

When I first replaced the black shocks years ago, the only yellow/blues were for armored vehicles or at least that was the Product Manager at Bilstein advised me.

Now I guess they are just bringing in the Y/Bs we all know - I take it they will work on a G500 also.

I'm confused

The part number you gave was for black B4's but the installation pictures are for the blue and yellow B6. Part #24-016353, 24-016360. Witch do you recommend.thank you for your post, I've been searching for awhile.

Can you check the part # on the shock please? There is a considerable price difference between the yellow ones and the parts you quote.

From what I understand it's not the color that makes the difference it's the shock model. You can get them in yellow and blue from the manufacture for cheaper. If you want black they come from the MB dealer and cost more.

did you just swap shocks only? How's the ride currently ? I'm consider getting the same shocks you have and adding ome springs to lift it 2".

The bilstein were on backorder until april so I went with EMU shocks. They are way more comfortable then stock, I still wonder how the bilstein would have been.

Just so that I can be clear, PN#24-016360, this part number is basically a b6 belstein? They are the ones that come in yellow and blue and matches the pn number but the first number you posted.

the ride is better than what you had before on your stock g63?

My g63 sometimes develops a bet of a death wobble, some said change the shocks and some said change the starting stanblizer.... I decided to change both, maybe it would take care of the issue.

i did realize the suspension is a stiff might is well make it comfy...

So from 1 to 10 how happy are you with the b6 belsteins?

how happy were you with the stock ones?

thank you so much.
