Range Rover full sized to G63 AMG?
Hi,
I currently have a 2015 Range Rover Supercharged I bought new in 2015. Have loved it for 115,000mi.
Am thinking about replacing with either the new body Range Rover V8 Turbo or a pre-owned G63 AMG.
Anyone here go from a Range Rover to the G Wagon and regret it? I like to be comfortable. I like a lot of interior space. I sometimes even hire a driver to drive my car to go to weddings or such so want the back seats to be comfortable.
Thanks for the opinions.

We had the SWB first, great size. I honestly don't really notice much size difference between the SWB and LWB. Both drive amazingly smooth.
My local RR dealer lent me a unit a few weeks ago. It is more spacious and more comfortable if you will be sitting in the second row while being driven. It has a bigger cargo area. It is also more quiet at speed (less wind noise) and the large infotainment screen feels more modern.
Conversely, the G is more visceral, more fun to drive, has way better leather trim especially when n comparing the dash and feels more solid and offers a more unique driving experience. I absolutely missed my G during the drive I took in the loaner RR.

I had a 2016 Range Rover Sport with the V8. What a great engine the JLR 5.0 is--shame they had to switch to BMW.
I've test driven the new full size Range Rover a few times as I'm tempted to get one next year. It's crazy comfortable, and I love the way it looks. The G is certainly more rough around the edges, but it's a more engaging drive and experirence to me.
Looks wise both vehicles to me look great in their own right but the G gets a lot more attention. Some people like this and some don't. Also at least around here I probably see a lot more Ranges than I do Gwagens. Gwagens also will hold their value better now that the demand has softened for the L460.
If you are driving around town mainly I'd try the G. If you drive a lot of highway miles or take long trips I'd get the new Range.

From RR V8 diesel To G63
Hi, I had a RR V8 diesel purchased in 2013 (as soon as the RR IV came out). It was the car I kept the longest and with which I did about 220,000 km. I never had any problems, so I was convinced to upgrade to the RR V with the 550hp Plugin engine. However...in the evenings I would watch videos of the G. So I canceled the order when I found in August 2023 a new G63 to be registered ready for delivery...I couldn't resist and got it just before I left for vacation. Magno night black, for me one of the best colors. What can I say about the differences between the two: the only thing that makes them similar and makes one doubt the choice is the fact that they are the two true and only icons in the segment; otherwise they are almost antipodes. Personally, when I go on a trip with the G63 I feel a thrill that, I believe, no RR will be able to give me. If, however, you want to travel comfortable, relaxed, and arrive at your destination more rested than when you left, then the RR is the right choice... long highway trips with the G63 are tough, make you 10 years younger for morale, but certainly not the right choice for someone who wants to

I just got a LWB RR and a G580 - the G580 is A LOT taller, but less wide & shorter and less inside & storage space. Seems like you already picked up the G so the comparison is a little late but if it's relevant for anyone else I can take some pictures of the 2 side by side.
I thought I would follow this thread up. In November, I purchased the G63 to replace my 2015 Range Rover Supercharged with 117,000mi. I just wanted a different platform and the praise and expense of the G63 had me thinking it would be an easy choice as no dollars would be spared to get the best.
On the first drive of the G my fiancé says to me, "I prefer the Range Rover" and seemed to be somewhat disappointed every time we went for dinner or on a trip in G Wagon.
It took me a couple months to realize, she was absolutely right. The G wasn't as comfortable, didn't drive as smoothly, didn't handle as smoothly, delivered power like a dump truck, was hard to get in and out of, the tech was meh and confusing.
I tried to convince myself for months that I liked it while I bounced around in the drivers seat feeling every crack and pot hole in the road.
The turning point for me on the G63 was when I had to run across town in the middle of the day to do an errand. Normally I love being in car and taking drives even if there is traffic. But I was dreading it in the G63. A drive that I previously would have enjoyed in the RR was a chore in the Merc. And that's when I decided to sell it and get back into a RR.
A few days ago I found the replacement. A 2023 with 3 years of warranty (23k miles) in trade for my G63 2020 with 22k miles and no warranty. And the dealer cut me a check for $37,000.
Again, just sharing my opinion for anyone who might be asking this same question. All due respect to those who own and love their G wagons. But the RR sh*ts on the G Wagon in every way except for the sound that blasts out of those side pipes.
Granted, I also have 3 sports cars in the garage so I don't want my daily driver to feel like a jack hammer. My RR feels like driving a xanax.
Thanks for the 9 months of advice, help, etc. Sorry it wasn't the right fit.

Especially since I put the new body SV wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion tires on my Rover, she rides like butter!

Yeah, I mean driving a Range Rover that is new or has been well cared for is like driving a xanax. It's just relaxing, pleasurable, floating on a cloud of class. Drops plenty of power on request.
The G Wagon was like trying to restrain a race horse at the gate. But in practice, they both have nearly the same HP. The RR takes corners way better. It drops plenty of power with the V8 forced air.
