Looking for well known MB upholster

I have a sample fabric that may belong to a MB from years ago. It may also belong to VW but I will need to contact a upholster who has vast knowledge in this fabric.
Thanks

Have to ask, are you seeking more material for use, or, looking for someone with that material to do the work on seat/etc.?

I am looking for the fabric so I can place an order to purchase the fabric and to have an upholster near me make the seat covers. To make seat covers upholsters will need the seats and to ship the seats across the country would cost a fortune.

There have been (in my past travels in life) a few VW based websites that may have some positive connection for older VW seat material sources. It may be the material you are seeking might surface there, but I would also suggest you post a picture of what the material is that you are looking for as well. I myself would take some timeon your behalf to search and see if I can come up with what you are looking for. And if you might know what the material is made of.

Only reason I mention older VW seats, the german manufacturing of VW's in the very early models had some fairly high quality material used on the seats. Friend of mine had a VW that was a split window model and the seats were amazing still original. sort of a camel tan color.

This is called Twill and technically called Cinnamon Twill. It is seat material. Since I have been searching for more than 5 yrs. to no avail I have been searching for a sub.
Anyways here is a couple of pics. The Twill is on the bottom part of the first pic.
Sorry about the quality as the second pic. I took, and the sender took the first one with the vinyl.

Much appreciated. Just for the sake comparison, here is the factory original seat that my seat is supposed to look like. The Twill is used on the bolsters going up to the headrest.

bcgreen, have you asked Rennlist? How many Porsche restorers have you spoken with on the phone?

I have been searching for more than 5 yrs. so you can just imagine all the people I've communicated with, in this country, Canada and Europe.
This sample sub. has been the closest fabric that would work for the seats.

bcgreen, I'm surprised that an established Porsche restorer would not have a suggestion or solution. In cases like this, I find it best to speak verbally with a person on the phone, compared with email or electronic communication.

Are you a member on Rennlist?

I am. There is a company in Palm Springs called H...ge that says they will give out sample of fabric for whatever european classic you own. For some unknown reason he won't send me a sample. So many restorers cannot work off of pics. and so having a sample in hand makes a big difference. This sub. sample I have that I have shown to a couple of upholsters has turned up nothing thus far. I do live in an area that is more of a resort community so upholsters are few and far between. Perhaps when I make trip to Ariz. I might have better luck.
One well known restorer in SoCal suggested I go to a fabric store.

Is it possible yours in the single vehicle Porsche built with this upholstery? In other words, aren't there others who have gone before you to recover their seats? What has decoding your VIN yielded in terms of trim/option code? What do other Porsche owners of your year and model suggest?

I know the 912E had it and those pictures of the interior I posted are from that vehicle. They ran the 911, 911SC from 74-76 with those seat options.
My particular Porsche they only made 123 RS cars but I don't know how many the Tweed/Twill as mine. My code is 33 - Tweed Seat Inlays, Twill Side Bolsters, Twill Headrests

Have you seen this seller on eBay?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sitzstoff-A...75.c100623.m-1

Appears to be this company:

Buy a sample of this material, it looks close. Don't be fooled by what you see on a computer screen. Photographs compared with 40 year old aged fabric will not match, that is 100% for sure.

I wonder if I send him an email with my pic. if he will be able to match my photo?
We shall see what he has to say.
Thanks

Can you post a closeup, well lit, well focused photo of your seat material?

This is a closeup of the factory original cinnamon Twill. I don't have that original Twill but the guy with the museum quality Porsche was nice enough to shoot a close up. You can see how it compliments the Tweed insert next to it.

You need to spend time on the telephone speaking with humans who are active in Porsche restoration. Build a network of people, with whom you have had voice communication, who are aware you are looking for this.
