I'm looking to buy my first MB but wanted to first know if there's anyone on this board that in the Southeast Connecticut area (Groton, New London, Norwich) who knows of a trusted repair place I can take a MB to.

Hey man....I haven't found one yet. I will keep you updated because I am trying to get my dealer (Carriage House) to tell me the names of some places that would change my springs for me.

I'll let you know.

Repair shop

Good luck on that one. I live in Bristol (by Hartford) and I take my car to Bristol Motors, they deal only with European cars and their labor rate is $70/hour better than New Country MB at over $100/hour.
BTW, I'm looking for some wheels for my 02 c320, if u guys come across some shoot me an email to: perucho0069@yahoo.com
and prefer local purchase (CT)
Thanks

When I had my Audi, there was a local mechanic who left the Audi dealership in the area and opened up his own shop. He dealt with nothing but Audi, Porsches and VWs and he was reasonable and inexpensive (relative to a dealer). I'm afraid I won't be able to find someone comparable if I decide to purchase a Benz. I'd rather not be at the mercy of a lone dealership.

For dealer service use Carriage House on Broad St, New London...about $80/hour. They got to be the best dealer in CT...and I tried them all. Art Foster, one of their master techs wrenches on the side also at his house in Salem.

Wholesale parts too if you are a MBCA member. Ed, the parts manager is my neighbor !!!

Sorry I can't recommend an indy. Ken Marino is a joke, he's in Durham, but his service manager Tom is pretty good (former New Country guy) if you can get him to wrench on your car, but he's in Wethersfield.

Actually I was talking with Art Foster in Salem about getting my springs done. He seems like a real nice guy. Came highly recommended by Gene, my dealer at Carriage House. I have decided not to get the springs done because I don't think I'll be keeping the car. I appreciate your help.

I've been taking mine to Tony's Imported Auto Service in Manchester. Haven't had any problems with them and they replace what needs to be replaced. Anyone else have any experiences with them?

Thumbs down

Yep....I known Victor and his Dad for many years at Tony's Import...and would NOT recommend them to change a wiper blade....unless you want to be over-charged and have un-specified and un-necessary work done for extra big $$$....but that's just MO (based on experience). Are they capable? Sure. Are they trust-worthy? No way.

I can give you half dozen others folks with european cars who will agree with me also. Their 'AAA recommended' only means they paid extra for that advertised rating.

Any specific shop you would recommend in the Hartford area? I'm having a problem with our C220 and need it diagnosed but afraid what expensive quote that they will come up with...

The problem I've been having can be described here... https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w202/111777-96-c220-hesitation-cel-loss-power.html
