2003 C320 Sports Coupe
Thumbs down Seeking a good Mercedes service department in Houston, Texas

Hi. Recently, my wife and I bought a 2003 C320 Sports Coupe. It's a great car, though obviously it's not perfect. We are looking for a Mercedes service department in the Houston, TX area that we can count on for good repair work. We recently had the coupe in the service department at Greenway Mercedes to repair the sunshades on the Panorama roof. A little over a week later, the shades are not functioning properly again and I'm starting to hear more of a scaping noise when I try to open the roof. We appreciate any advice that you can offer.

You may want to try MB sugarland. Not that I against any gender, but get the male SA. They got one b_tch SA there knows nothing and does not return phone calls.

Have you contaced the Greenway folks and made them aware of the problem?
I had my car inspected at Houston-Greenway and they seemed to do a good job. I never actually went there, because I am in St. Louis, I just had them inspect the car before I bought it off of eBay and had it shipped to me.

Try MB North Houston. Talk to Paul Harrison or the service manager Mark. Both great people.

Greenway and Houston North are both owned by AutoNation and managed similarly. If you don't like one, it's unlikely that you would like the other. That said, you might consider looking into Star Motor Cars. I believe that Star is the last independently owned Mercedes-Benz dealership in Houston.

Stars Motor cars are not worth going to. Nickle and dime you on everything. Both my S-class and M -class mysteriously ended up with missing and broken dipsticks and they charged me. They tell you one thing is wrong and when you okay the work and then go to pick your vehicle you see that they have charged you for other things without first getting okay from you .. and I am not talking about small dollar items $400 plus. They then throw the part away and you have no way of verifying anything. On two occasions, I have had them first tell me its a major part that is has broken and then they replace the parts but the car still has the same problem. Then they come back and tell you that it is some electrical component thats also defective. Its fine if they play this game under warranty but out of warranty this rapidly escalates your bill. I do not think the mechanics know what they are doing. I think they just change parts until the problem going away. I personally would avoid this place at all cost...

I can not comment on Greenway Mb but in general MB North has been good. MB North did have a period when their level of service went down year or so ago but with Paul Harrison and Mark Mcgee things have turned around.

In the end its about finding a good service advisor...

No I did not buy my car from Star Motors. But I did spend close to $8,000 grand on service/repair for my S and M there. I have never tried an independant shop like you say. Partly because you expect MB service technicians at the dealers to know what to fix at the first go or have the equipment to diagnose the problem. Isnt odd that both oil dipsticks in both cars be broken and the transmission one be missing completely? My S has always been garage parked so how can a dipstick break at 60,000 miles? My nissan maxima that I bought new and put over 200,000 miles on never needed a new one. If its not the service people breaking them then Mercedes quality is sinking like crazy! But dipsticks are minute compared to dealer indiscriminately changeing expensive parts and then coming back and changing electronic components because the problem was not fixed. When it happens once you think about it but let it go. When it keeps on repeating it self you really wonder.
