New York is a title state. At least every car I bought there had a title. Since it is used there is no certificate of origin. So what good is a bill of sale? Not worth a dingaling here.

I agree that I would not buy a car without a title, especially when there is any ambiguity regarding whether it was legally imported.
Shockingly, there are 25+ bids and the bid prices are not trivial amounts!

Depending on what state you live in you could possibly get it registered but it would be a gamble. Unless the car was shipped to the USA with a motor in a box and the motor was put into the car in the USA that way you could title it as a "kit" car and it would be street legal. My father was always a big GT3 fan and thought about doing that but the cost was too great.

That auction screams SCAM! Its a private listing, there is no VIN number listed, no title, says to contact at a private email address, etc, etc. Possibly a stolen ebay ID and seller will take the money and run.

My thought is that this is a consulate vehicle (the only A-class cars I've seen have consulate plates) half these guys abuse the system so it wouldn't surprise me if the car has a lien on it somewhere or is supposed to be returned to its country of origin after its use but instead, they want the cash and stick someone else with the problems.
Here in NYC, there are a lot of problems with those with diplomatic status because the rape the system...They don't pay loans (even those with liens) and they don't pay rent. As a result, very few landlords will rent out apartments to them without the lease being paid up front because evictions are nealry impossible. Even fewer are banks willing to finance consulate vehicles because the plates make it impossible to repo.
