Extended Warranty

I have an SL that is under factory warranty until the end of July, I am investigating aftermarket warrantys, looked at ICW (inter continental Warranty) 48 mos / 100,000 miles, JM&A Group, and G.E. 3yr/ 36000.
Anyone have any experience, thoughts, most important, advice?

Go with the warranty that M-B offers. Some of these after-market companies go out of business, taking your money with them. This has been a often-asked question on here, and I have always given the same answer. M-B is not going anywhere, and theirs are transferrable to another owner, if you should decide to sell it while it's still in effect. One thing to keep in mind however, is that if you trade it into a dealer, I think it's worth nothing and terminates effective immediately (same goes for the CPO ones).

I am going though the same thing. I went to my dealer and they wanted to sell me an extended warranty with "millennium" for their $200 deductible, to add 4years and 75k miles it was $3549.00.I have a 03 ml 350 with 36k miles.I am going to go to another mercedes benz dealer and maybe a dogde dealer to get differant prices. And to other people mercedes benz does not offer their own warrentys unless its a certified car. After the warrantys up its only 2nd party warranty companys

I bought the MB extended warranty about a year ago. It was not overly difficult to find a dealer who would give a 10%. We got quick response from MB of Manhattan (NY) and also Schumacher in Scottsdale.

I would reccomend the factory warranty, it is by far the best. One thing to take into consideration is this: Warranty companies are in the business of selling warranties and making money that way, meaning they only profit if you DO NOT get your money's worth. M-B is in the business of selling cars, warranties are one way they improve ownership experience to ensure that you buy another car. Neither party wants to lose money on the deal, but only one will survive on the money they make on it.

MERCEDES BENZ DOES NOT SELL FACTORY WARRANTYS ON NONE CERTIFIED CARS.Well i went to another mercedes benz dealer and got another quote by"One World" warranty co.and it was $500. cheaper with 5k more mileage. At the dealer they said that you have more options if you get the extended warranty before the manufactors warranty ends. She did offer "GE" as another co. but said their prices were even higher.

If your car is still under it's new car warranty, Mercedes WILL sell you an extension. It probably is not the least expensive option, but I firmly believe it's the best one out there. You can shop around between dealers though, at least that's my understanding, and might save a few dollars.

Unfortunately, you will be buying one at the most expensive price, since they go up every 12 months beginning with the 1st year you own the car.
