They sell these coolers that you plug into your cig-lighter, just set it on the back seat, drop in some ice in advance to get things started, should be good for the day (only). Got mine at a yard sale. Basically an ice box.
Car friges, i dont know about that.

talk to the propane dealers, can point you to gas refrigerators.

How good are your electrical skills/wiring? To run this 24 hours, you can...

Run it through your existing battery (not recommended)

or

Buy a secondary battery for it and tap it to the original battery, don't forget the battery isolator.

The CL cars have a refrigerator option for European cars, it is located between the rear seats.
I have heard some people convert their cars with this package.

this may sound nuts but its all about taste, in my maxima i made a fiberglass mount for the center console wrapped it tight and cut up those lunchbags with the thermal liner and some good imagination lol just a thought

Get a "coolbag" at a BMW dealer.

Mercedes sells this same item in Europe but not in USA.

Plugs into cig lighter.

i have a power converter that hooks directly to the battery and ran the wires under the carpet and the unit sits under my passenger seat. It's really not that hard. It has an in-line fuse and the unit itself shuts down if the car battery drops below the set voltage to start your car (if you plan on leaving it on while ur cars off, sounds like u are). You can also install another battery like someone said above. If i were you i'd install another battery and hook the converter to that. The hardest part was hiding the wires but sounds like you're thinking of putting it in the trunk anyway (that's where my battery is, not sure if all mercedes are the same). It's easy, do it! Then you can benefit from plugging anything you want in there, laptop charging cell phone/ipod.
