When you remove the key from the ignition, does your interior light come on?

When I bought my car a year ago, I could have sworn that the light would come on when I turned off the ignition and removed the key. I think I did something to accidentally remove this feature.

The last time I brought in my car to the dealer for air con service, I asked them to turn this feature back on as well, and they told me that feature doesn't exist! I think every car I have ever owned had that feature - is it possible that I imagined it?

It is controlled by the switch overhead that operates the dome light. This is a multiposition switch.

Yeah, I was messing with the dome light... but I can't find in the manual how to set it back... I'll go over the manual again to see if I can find the sequence or something.

I checked the manual tonight and it doesn't say anything about lighting the interior when you remove the key; only when you open the doors.

Can anyone give me any specific instructions because there aren't any in the manual.... help!

I think the interior lights only light when the door is opened or car is unlocked by remote.- Not by removing the key.

I believe in my CLK, when I take out the key from the ignition, the interior lights light up.

Thanks for checking. Now, I just need to figure out how to toggle it back on in my car...

Oh yeah, whenever I open the door, the lights come on.

It's just that it's nice to be able to turn off the ignition and be able to see/gather my stuff (i.e. cell phone, gps, purse, etc.) together before I open the door (at night).
