No 'problems' really. I mean my dealer at MB of Palm Beach is not the most excited person to be selling me a vehicle, but oh well..
On my contract it says:
"Order cannot be assigned or transferred to a 3rd party or entity"
If I were to take someone to the dealership with me at the time of delivery, would they be allowed to pay for it and not myself?

This phrase gives your dealer the "option" of honoring the contract, by removing the "obligation" of the dealer, in the event YOU cannot or chose not to honor the contract.
It is supposed to prevent folks from getting on waiting lists and ultimately selling their spots for a premium, at the time the vehicle is ready for delivery.
If you have someone paying for your car [but titled in your name...], I don't think the dealer will care. Further, in a soft market, the dealer may not care, as long as he's moving the unit.
It ultimately will depend upon the present demand for the car versus the terms of the contract, and your intentions...hth.

If you are talking about an SL55AMG
The thing to do it buy it anyway ans make $25 grand off of it if you are not going to keep it. Do all the paperwork and sell it the next day or even with in the hour. The car will sell for over invoice. You could even sell it to the Used Car Department at the dealership and make over $10 profit off the sale. This is happening all over the place already. The car is so hard to get that people are paying way to much for it, including dealers. Be sure to take it around the block a few times first.
