...Heading south on I 5 from Ashland, 145 Mph. Rock steady, air con on , 102 degree outside air temp and still accelerating. By my seat of the pants estimation, this thing could easily top 170 without the limiter. Too bad traffic ( all two cars at the time ) ruined my run.

I have an '01 CLK 55. Stone stock. (unless I do major concrete work in the garage) I'd love to do some suspension work, wheels and drop the car a hair, but my exhaust system just barely clears the crown....

electronically limited....

.... at 157 (per the digital speedo display).

MY01 CLK55, all alone on a 4 mile stretch of what will become a new housing development - long, slow curving 4 lane main that feeds a whole bunch of side streets.

Incredibly stable, still pulling strong when the limiter was hit. Can't even begin to describe the rush.

I hit an indicated 146 in my '90 Infiniti Q45 in West Texas. I was driving to Colorado from Dallas. My Golden Retriever in the back seat never even noticed.

I must be older now - I never got my 993 past 100 or so, and my C32 has never broken into the triple digits.

Yet.

Ive seen 120 a few times

Thats about the fastest. I may have hit 125 once but I run out of space fairly quick here and then I run out of nerve after that. I cant have any speeding tickets. The NJ Turnpike is fun at times but thats the only place I can really boogie. I want to take it up to at least 145 one time. Im waitin till the time is right.

The ride was, as I said, incredibly stable. Two impressions -
1: My 55 had more to give - stopped by the limiter, didn't run out of ponies.
2: You are, without question, the biggest post ***** I've ever witnessed. Perhaps you might consider getting out & driving once in a while?

I usually break 100mph anytime I get a 1/2 mile stretch with clear line of site. I've gone 137 on the highway and 129 on a track, on the half mile stretch of Summit Point road course.

Ran it up just over 120...palms were a little sweaty. I10 between San Antonio & Houston. Pulling strong felt I could have easily rolled up to 140 or where ever it cuts off...fastest I've ever gone..didn't have the ***** to keep it pressed to the floor. Went 110 once before that...give the right strech of road...next stop 130. Bought an escort 8500 for XMas...just in case. One though that runs thorugh my mind here in TX...if a deer/cow/dog darts out into the highway...run his over...don't want to swerve at that speed. 2000 CLK Coupe 430, right at 30,000 miles

Here's my top speed. Took place in the middle of nowhere. This is as fast as the car would go. Notice that the RPM's still have some room, but the speed limiter said, 'no more'.

My wife took the pic, I had both hands on the wheel.

Topped out my E55, well over 155mph one late night on the I-5 North as I blew past a group of bikers doing 110. When they finally caught up, they couldn't believe a 4dr sedan can go so fast and it doesn't take long at all to hit that speed. The car felt so solid. Of course, I have our suspension work done to it. I can't imagine that speed with the soft AMG suspension of NA. At those speeds, there are no lanes. Like on the track, you have to use the entire road.

On the track, I hit a little over 175mph in a Diablo GTR. Uhh, no words to describe true "seat of your pants" sensation!

In my Camaro I hit 155 (limiter) trying to make it home for curfew, I did!

Ina Winston Cup driving school car I hit around 175 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

In the C230 I hit 110, coming back from work. Car felt stable and still had some left.

155 mph on my C36, 158 mph in the C43, the C43 slams into the speed limitor and flies you to 158 mph. Ive done this a few times. Did a flyby on a cop giving someone a ticket in my C36 at 148 mph and I hit the brakes then decided to floor it and went home which was only 2 exits away. The cop looked pissed. Got home in a few seconds.

yup

This is true but it makes it just the much more fun. But i definately would not want to get caught. Does anyone know of any tracks or places one would be able to take their car in the LA area to race or just drive as fast as you wanted?

Hey guys,

I have a bad habit in driving fast wherever I am! As long as im not around a school or lots of pedestrians. Anyway here is my list:

Hit limiter on my E55 a couple times once in the middle on nowhere and another time on the freeway at night.

Did 160+ in Adams 360 Spyder (Super S)

And the fastest was in Germany on the Autobahn in a Porsche 911 Turbo speedo registered at 189!!!

Anyway thats what I have done, would like to hear more from others!

Cheers
