MB WARRANTY ADVICE NEEDED

I am trying to be proactive and get the most affordable MB Genuine Warranty option for my 08 CLS 550 with 28K not CPO. I read some of the posts in this section and it seems that the best deal is to go with chicocourtesy AKA LISA. She is no longer working for that dealer, but the Finance person gave me the below options for my car. He also stated that they provide another option that is not a genuine MB via Chrysler, but he said that by purchasing the genuine MB, it is faster to process the claim/s. Also he stated that it is from the original date the vehicle was purchased and the total accumulated miles.
5 Year / 75k Miles - $2535.00 With 15% Surcharge - $2915.25
5 Year / 100k Miles - $3195.00 With 15% Surcharge - $3674.25
6 Year / 75k Miles - $2810.00 With 15% Surcharge - $3231.50
6 Year / 100k Miles - $3635.00 With 15% Surcharge - $4180.25
7 Year / 75k Miles - $3140.00 With 15% Surcharge - $3611.00
7 Year / 100k Miles - $4185.00 With 15% Surcharge - $4812.75
So, if my original MB warranty expires this coming August 2011 and I pick the first option for example, it means that I am paying $3K for an additional year. I only drive $6-7K a year. WOW
Here are my questions:
1. Are these prices normal?
2. Are there other options that mimic the genuine warranty or at least come close to it?
3. Where else can you recommend to shop for a good MB warranty?
Thank you AllJ

CSC (chrysler service contract ) still offers the contract for mercedes so you might want to check with them. Although they might not be cheap either. They however might offer you longer coverage though.

these prices sound high for the MB warranty. if you need a 2nd opinion, ping me and i'll get you my intro w/ finance mgr from my local MB dealer. my gut feel is it'll be at least $500 less than your current quote.

Thanks for the opinions. I read about the CSC and it seems that they are slower and more difficult to approve and process the paperwork.
If I may ask, what are you folks using on your cars?

Warranties usually cover premature failure or premature wear.
When past 4 years, 50K miles, NOTHING is premature and the "warranty" you then buy is simply prepaying for normal maintenance/replacement.
That's why the cost is high--a warranty is simply an insurance policy and insurance companies don't lose money. Things are for sure going to wear out/fail and the risk is known at higher age/mileages--it's about 100%. The only thing the insurance company has going for it in terms of avoiding the risk is the fact some people will total their car or sell it before the prepaid term expires (no refunds for this).
Seems more logical to me to NOT prepay for this stuff but to perhaps simply "self insure" and keep the money. If prepaying makes you feel safe and secure, just put the money in a dedicated savings account.
The place here where you're saving money is by purchasing a used car and avoiding the depreciation. Don't really think you'll "win the lottery" on avoiding maintenance/repair costs.

I am not skeptical just realistic. When someone pushes the fact that they are honest its usually the opposite. From experience I know that I receive excellent service and honesty from my dealer now why on earth would someone deal 3000 miles away to save a nickle. Is that your idea of the thought pattern of an MB customer.

If saving $600 on an ELW is a Nickle for you then you shouldn't be on this board any way. Dealers are dealers, whether they are Kia or MB,new or used and when ever and where ever they get a chance, they will stick it up our asses and that too with out any lubrication. We have to be smart and knowledeable enough and should do what's best in our interest that is,save money where ever we can ?

You're not going to find a better deal on a MB ELW. The orginal posting with the price quotes on a CLS were not only $500 to high, but closer to "$1000" higher than can be purchased from:

Unfortunately not through MB if your vehicle has already surpassed the original factory warranty. Message Bruce @ Beck Imports, he may be able to offer you coverage through one of his providers. Sorry I couldn't help.
