Cadillac XLR or Mercedes-Benz SL
2004 Cadillac XLR
A new lease on sportscar life for GM’s rapid social climber
It was designed to evoke a very different era – a time when Cadillac truly set the standard of the world of luxury cars. Now, after a seemingly interminable wait, the Evoq concept car is ready to hit the road, albeit in renamed form as the Caddy XLR.
Largely based on the Corvette chassis and powered by an updated version of the highly-regarded Northstar V-8, XLR has some credible credentials. But it’s also going up against some of the world’s best and most desirable products, such as the striking Mercedes-Benz SL roadster and the quirky but popular Lexus SC430.
Is it just me or does this Cadillac look a lot like the old Mercedes-Benz SL?

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
I will be driving the XLR next month when it will be hitting the showrooms and test the "rubber hitting the road".
The XLR will be made in Bowling Green, Kentucky where the Vettes are made. The old and new SLs are too small for my driving comfort, --
hopefully the XLR will give me a couple more inches.
In the recent JD POwers survey re initial quality, Cadillac ranks as #2 after Lexus #1.
Mercedes Benz came in as #15 -- beaten by CHEVY!!
1.Lexus
2.Cadillac
3.Infiniti
4.Acura
7.Porsche
8.BMW
9.Toyota
10.Jaguar
11.Honda
12.Volvo
13.Chevy
14.Audi
15.Mercedes-Benz

Not so, here in South Florida, old and young buy MB cars.
Consider the Mercedes ROOTS:
Mercedes in Mercedes-Benz was the eleven year old daughter of Emil Jellinek, - and Austrian Jew, - a financier with financial interests in the Benz corporation.
