What is the difference between these two sites? They even look the same. Do i have to go on both, and post to both? which is better?

Better? IMHO Mbworld. Seems like more active members. Also, the amount of ads and the way they are layed into the page on Benzworld is way to intrusive. I rarely go there any longer.

You think ???

I am a member of both boards and benzworld definitely DOEs have a heck of a lot of active users.

IMO it's not a one better than the other factor.
If I can gain information relevant to my interest from multiple sites then so be it I spend a little extra time surfing through both boards.

There are a lot of guys here that also reside there and use the same logon name !

I do agree about the obtrusive advertising, bloody painful when going frompage to page.

But I have no preference for either - both exceedingly good and a great source of info.

Chances are you don't find it here - you may find it there.

I have an account with both sites as well, but I quickly left because it seemed so...dead. MBWorld is so much more active and much more interesting stuff to read IMO.

I find it interesting that people say there are more active members here, yet when I look at the posts per day in various subforums it is less than BenzWorld, tho it can be somewhat model dependent. I am not knocking MBworld, I'm on here, but I also use them both to gather more opinions, etc. when searching for solutions to problems. I don't think one is better than the other, just find what suits your particular needs.

fyi--
there were six responses here (besides my own) and seven at benzworld. So they are close in activity level. Too bad--it's inconvenient to have to go to both places. With other things I'm interested in and participate in forums on, there is a clear choice.

Yo Elvis - you forgot about checking Peachparts.com as well !

Great site for DYI instructions - not as much general chatter.

So that makes it 3 sites I frequent.
(Now if I only had a TV like remote control so I could forum surf)

Everyone posts from THEIR perspective. Nobody reads totals posts, they read the posts for their interests. So, it's possible for either site to have more or less activity depending upon how you read the site and where you go.

Activity is very model depending. Some sections on mbworld are more than active than benzworld's and vice-versa.

Be aware the when it comes to current members online, that's a setting. I can set it to refresh every 15 minutes or pump up the numbers by doing for the last 6 hours. So, unless you know the setting, it not apples to apples nor very telling. Session lengths for forums are typically fairly short (under 10 minutes on average).

both sites have good, useful info and it doesn't hurt going through both

I agree that it doesn't hurt to go to both. On BW, I participate in the W220, Audio & Telematics, and R/C 107 forums. On MBW, it's the W220 and Audio & Electronics forums. There is a difference in "flavor" of each.

As a general observation, to which there are plenty of exceptions, the W220 forum on BW tends to draw "traditionalists" - folks who are happy with their cars, want to discuss fixes to problems, and not make a lot of major changes. They appreciate that the car was designed as a fine luxury sedan, and want to keep that aspect of it. On MBW, I think the W220 forum tends to draw a younger crowd that wants to modify their cars extensively, and many of the modifications seriously alter the aspect of a fine luxury sedan. Of course, there are opposing views among the two different groups. I don't attach a "right" or a "wrong" to either approach. But being of a traditionalist bent myself, I tend to go mostly to BW on the W220 forum; however, I still search MBW, and include links to it in the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia on BenzWorld.

I compile and edit the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia, a collection of what I think are the best posts addressing the W220. I used to do it on BW, MBW, and MBCA (I am a mod on BW and was a mod on MBCA). I tried to make the Encyclopedia a research tool, not a discussion forum; but some folks on MBW did not respect that, and pretty much destroyed its usefulness with questions that interrupted the flow. Since I was not a moderator here, I could not stop it. But as a mod on BW, I can lock the thread to keep extraneous posts out, and preserve it as a research tool - and I do. So I keep the Encyclopedia up to date on BW, and no longer here. That keeps me in the BW W220 forum much more than here, and the Encyclopedia on the BW W220 forum is much better than the one here.

I am also the mod for the Audio & Telematics forum on BW, but I find the Audio & Electronics forum on MBW to be active and equally useful.

The R/C 107 SL and SLC forum on BW is extremely active, and populated by a group that has great camaraderie and that is VERY knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the corresponding forum on MBW is nearly dead. The R/C107 forum on MBCA is not as active as BW, but the participants are VERY knowledgeable.

The responses above indicate that some MBW sub-forums are more active than their BW counterparts. That could be true; I just usually don't have cause to visit those. However, I also note that the converse is true; some BW forums are more active than their MBW counterparts.

So - IMHO, it depends pretty much on the individual sub-forum more than the overall quality of either forum.

Yeah I agree, MBW seems more performance orientated, rather than BWs appreciation of stock Mercedes's

I think both of these websites have something to offer but if you are looking for AMG content and activity, there is no comparison. As previously stated, there are plenty of guys (young and old) on this site learning and sharing how to get the most out of your Mercedes. I credit this site with helping me take both of my AMGs from great (stock) to fantastic x 2 (modified). Below is a snap shot of both the AMG forums (threads and posts), BW (left) and MBW (right). Note: I don't even have all the AMG forums captured for MBW on that screen shot.
