Do you warm up your car?

So do you warm up your car?
if you do, do you only do it:
1. when its cold
2. during the first time you drive it
3. only if its not NA

And do you warm it up for a set amount of time or do you wait until the rpms drop?

edit*

benefits and cons for warming up?

ill start.

Benefits
-smoother transmission
-less engine wear

cons
-more time consuming
-not really necessary (not sure)

Start it up and wait for the revs to drop, usually only takes a minute here but I always do it none the less.

My car is overheating by the time my wife makes it from the house into the car anyway.

From what i have heard, not warming up the car can hurt the transmission/engine correct?

amg63...wait for revs to come down...then another 15 seconds + or -.

Drive low revs until oil temp is normal operating range.

Other cars, yes, probably 30 seconds (most don't have the high idle kick-down). Goal is to get oil through all oil passages before placing a load on the engine.

+1 with waiting for the rev's to go down.

I usually wait until the oil temp goes above the 1st line

CLK63 Black Series
summer: wait for rpm drop, then go
winter: wait for the heater to start working, then go

always keep rpm under 3k until oil temp reaches 95C

For mercs, is the oil temp measure in the engine or at the oil storage place?
