Exclamation Stolen Hood Stars

Just out of curiosity, how many people have had their hood star stolen or any other Mercedes emblem stolen and how many times has it happened?

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
I had an Acura logo stolen and the red "S" from the trunk lid.

...never had a Mercedes star/logo/AMG accessory stolen. They just fall off.

Just kidding!!

Audi 80 Quattro (with a couple of modifications)
The Mercedes Star is hard to steal unless you have access to the underside of the hood. The rest of the emblems are very easy to steal, but I have never heard of them being stolen. Most people that are immature enough to steal emblem usually drive riced out cars and go after type-s emblems from karl k.

The potential damage to the car while people try is what really concerns me. Scratches, or they could put a foot on the front grill to get a harder pull, etc. Or they could just get ticked off and do something else...

back when the beastie boys were popular, my dads hood ornament was broken off his old mercedes. (for those of you that dont know, they used to wear mercedes emblems around their necks). its actually very easy to break the ornament off, just pull it forward until it breaks....

When I bought my used E320 there was evidence that someone had tried to pry off the trunk emblem. I just replaced the emblem, luckily there was no paint damage.

Hey Petie, Just curious, how do you know how easy it is to break off a hood emblem?

weve had a lot of different mercedes over the years (my family) and broken pretty much everything there is to be broken at one point or another.....sometimes just unlucky, other times being stupid.....

i dont know what all emblems the beastie boys wore, but now that you mention VW, i kinda remember that (im 19, beastie boys were a bit before my time and definitely not my style, i got sick of them *****ing about world hunger on national television, basically telling americans that we are all horrible people, yet i havent seen them do **** for anyone, but whatever) now. but i am fairly certain about the mercedes star. theres a good chance that they wore both, correct me if anyone knows for sure....

There was a time long time ago, the star was what they wanted. not the whole thing, just the star. What they did, they filed out the star and leave the ring on without the star. When holding a three points star in your fist, you'd have a sharp point sticking out of your fist. That's the time before everyone got a gun or whatever they called weapons.

Hood badge stolen off car about three weeks ago. Did some paint damage. Probably used a screwdriver or pocket knife to pry it off. Will also be putting on fourth set of valve stem caps soon.

Custom valve stem covers are one of the most common items stolen on cars. I gave up on them a long time ago...

That really sucks. Maybe we'll all have to install cameras in our cars soon.

I'm still wondering about booby-trapping stuff, but that borders on being nutty.

Some friends of mine have suggested placing razor blades under the replacement hood badge so the next thief really cuts himself. But, with today's "poor criminal" laws, I'd be the one to get in trouble.

If you put razor blades under the badge, not only will it cut the thief but it will also **** him off, probably to the point of him doing some other kind of damage to your car that's far more costly to repair than the hood badge...

How about rigging a small shotgun tube behind the front grill. angle it upward right at the groin area. rig it to go off if the emblem is removed.

...or just recirculate the radiator fluid to that sensitive frontal area.

How about hooking up a sensor to the badge area so that when it's tampered with, a camera mounted on the inside of the car takes a picture of the thieves in action?

Then you can just post it here on MBWorld. The rest of us will make that idiot famous by captioning "you're gay get the f* out" next to their face and circulate it around the internet for all to see.
