Question Mercedes & Manual Transmission?

Hello, I'm just a bit curious as to whether Mercedes offers manual transmission for the new SL, E, CL etc. I was told by a non-reliable source that manual transmission is available for the new CLK55 or new E55. I want to know if this is true and how much extra $$$ would it be, please post pictures of manual tranny too, thanks in advance!

no manual will ever be put in a AMG car. the only manuals you can get are the C240, C230K Sedan/coupe, SLK230K, and SLK320, well in the US anyway.. Renntech does tranny swaps, for those who really want manual. i think it was something like 19K for it.

I dont think its a matter of 'never'. One of the Klemmann guys mentioned its because Mercedes have not found a manual tranny to pass their stress test.

According to them a standard CLK 320/430/500/55 tranny is rated upto 620 lb/ft of torque. I would imagine any manual tranny would have to meet those specs + abuse from bad drivers to withstand an MB reliability test.

i have seen the Renntech manual tranny in their Renntech CLK60.. car was gutted out and had roll bars, owner was a rich guy who turned it into a track car. i talked with the Renntech rep. and it was roughly 19K, for tranny and labor.

I called up the European Delivery # from MBUSA and they said they don't have an option for manual gear for the new E or CLK but that I would have to go through a dealership direct from German.

Save yourself some time. IMO the s2000 has the best manual tranny I have ever driven...the MB will be nothing like it and you will be dissapointed.

I have driven a S2000, and it does have a great tranny, but i think my BMW M roadster's tranny feels much better.
