E55 is gone :(

Well, after a lot of thinking, we decided to get rid of my beloved E55, there were a few reasons for this:
-It was for the best due to my current economy
-We are getting a car for our daughter (turning 16 on the 16th of feb)
-Where were we going to put 4 cars in our driveway?
-Other 2 vehicles we have right now are paid for, the E55 was the only note we had, but then we had to add the Cougar we are getting for our daughter plus the Insurance

If we kept 4 cars the insurance rate would also be much higher by adding a 16 y/o to our list, so that's another reason.

Too bad because I really liked the car, at least I enjoyed it while I had it, I'll be able to get another car in the future at the right time, but I'm seriously considering the 300C, may be by november.

Farewell E55

I am sorry to hear that man. At the same time...maybe this is for the best. Sometimes, the releif of stress gained by eliminating a note is well worth the sacrafice. November will come soon enough.

I thought you were like 30 or 31? Or am I mistaken?

Why not have your daughter drive one of the other cars? 16 year olds are a financial headache when it comes to insurance and tickets.

Exclamation

If you "have" to give her a car, why don't you give her one of the other ones that is paid off and keep the E55.
I have twin daughters who turned 16 in June of last year, and they don't have a car. Who says that you have to give a child that's still in school a car? I don't think so, therefore my wife drives them to and from school and we just got used to take and pick them up late at night from the movies, dinners, etc. It's just a little inconvenience, but worth it. And for them is very difficult, cause in Palm Beach their friends drive BMW's, MB's, etc., but they won't get their car until they turn 18, instead they travel overseas twice a year, and that's a deal.

ps; a large % of their friends have already crashed their cars, or had tickets.

Pocholin,
Sorry to hear about your loss. Look for the silver lining, maybe you will find something better when the time comes. Anyway, good luck!

I'm 32, she is my step daughter, my wife is a little older than me.
The other cars are a Suburban and a Montecarlo, my wife drives the montecarlo, and both of them won't drive the Suburban because it is too big and difficult to park

That is my thinking as well, but there are a few other factors to her getting a car, my wife and I work a little far from home, and it takes us about 1 hour to commute thanks to traffic, with our youngest son starting t-ball in a few weeks it will be more convinient for us to have her take his brother around, she is also at the rim team and we have to constantly take her to practice, same for the movies and all her busy social life. Yet I agree that she is not ready to start driving just yet (may be she could wait till 17), she is bound to have fender benders and may be get a ticket, but I can't make the wife understand that. I also tell her, lets buy a car for 5-6k dlls instead of a 15k dlls car because she'll bang it a lot everywhere, but NO, she won't listen.

Whew for a minute there I thought you had a kid when you were 14!

How about trading in one of the other 2 cars instead of the E55?

The car payment, remember??? Besides I wouldn't be able to afford right now the E55 payment plus the other car smaller payment plus the insurance (it goes up a lot if I keep the E55 on the policy)

I am truly saddened to hear the news Poch. I don't know what I would do if I ever had to give up my Benz. I understand that your daughter needs a car but I would have figured some other way to get her a car and keep the E55. She should definitely just get a $5K car that could be bought outright and not have payments. Then maybe she could get a part time job babysitting or something to help out with the increase in the insurance premium. Anything except getting rid of the Benz.

I agree. Make her pay at least part of it.

Question

Pocholin,
Yes you can buy it! She decided she likes the Audi better so I would be happy to sell the Celica to you cheap! Would that help you keep your "baby"?

Pocholin,

don't let it bother you. one thing you can always count on is that your next car will be better than your last. MB will keep making E55's and improve on them year in year out. so the next one will be even better. hopefully you can pick one up next year or the year after. your making the right decision. family comes first.

'04 Silverado Z71 - sold all my Benzes and need another!
Well, sorry to hear about the loss Poch. I have been conteplating the same but not because of a child or the car note, but because I need a truck or an SUV for my side job. It hurts to try and get rid of mine as well and haven't done it yet. You will end up getting something nice in the future so no worries. Just don't forget about this place and check in from time to time.

Also, will we be seeing any future videos of burning tires in the new cougar, lol...

Not yet but as you saw from the outside of my house, the renovation that I am doing to that thing and I just made an offer on another trashed fixer-upper last night, I need a truck for hauling and such. We'll see, I haven't decided to let it go yet as I have spent a lot on it...Thanks for the concern Rich...
