809, 284 and 876 Area Code Scams.
"The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has become aware of a long distance phone scam that may lead consumers to inadvertently ring up high charges on their phone bills.
The Scam Works Something Like This:
You get an e-mail, voicemail or page telling you to call a phone number with an 809, 284, or 876 (or some other three-digit) area code to collect a prize, find out about a sick relative, engage in sex talk, etc.
You assume you are making a domestic long distance call - as "809", "284", and "876" (and other three-digit area codes involved in this scam) appear to be typical three-digit U.S. area codes.
When you dial the "809", "284" or "876" (or other three-digit) area code plus the number, however, you're actually connected to a phone number outside the United States, often in Canada or the Caribbean, and charged international call rates. (In this case, 809 goes to the Dominican Republic, 284 goes to the British Virgin Islands, and 876 goes to Jamaica.)
You don't find out about the higher international call rates until you receive your phone bill.

the pre approved bidder list means you have to email the seller to give them your word you can go through with the auction(paying for it) so if your just some joe blow you dont waste all their time and money, sellers are charged 25 dollars plus additional listing fees for selling a automobile, plus a nice hefty sum of the final value,
i was charged 230 last month for selling some honda stuff, alot of stuff but still 230 is alot, they dont want you to waste their money becaus i k now how much a final value fee on a 100k sl55 would cost
also most the time there are "reserves" which means the seller sets a specific amount in which they will not sell the car unless the reserve price is met, becaus nobody won the bid
a sl55 will never have a selling price of 15k, you have to be a little more open minded
the moral of the story is you get what you pay for, and you will def not get a sl55 for 15k(becaus the auctions dont END at that price)

Thats what I just got when trying to goto the site.
hammerdgolfer: Final value fees do exist on items and parts/accessories, but do not exist on vehicles. There is a $40 listing fee and a $40 "services" fee at the end of the auction.
