Maintenance cost for older cars?
How many people on this forum have kept their cars for a long time and has the maintenance cost made it worth while to keep the car?
Thanks,
Baron
My two big items were the headgasket ($1200) and the front end suspension: lower control arms, bushings, steering shock ($1000).
After those, currently just small items like ball joints, tranny mounts and engine mounts...those are about 300 each.
but once items are fixed, the car runs like a beauty again.
It will be rewarding in the end, IMO.

How many miles on it?

I have a 94 w202 and it can get costly when repairs are needed. There's going to be a period where things will start to wear out and need replacing, but once those major items are replaced, it's really just small items.

I guess driving nice cars come at a price. Good thing I am under warranty for 3 more years. I am debating on whether i should get an extended afterward. I really dont want some ESP sensor to go haywire when im out of warranty and up dishing thousands of $$$$! But basic stuff like you mentioned is understandable but still costly.
