I have a 1996 W124 E220 Estate. Up until a few months ago it had an intermittent cutting out problem, until it cut out going uphill and would not restart. It was a failed fuel pump. Your 190E may have this problem; hope that helps.

I had figured the fix would be rather easy, having read other MBWorld forum posts documenting similar issues with the car.
