With the belief that pickup trucks are moving upmarket, Mercedes-Benz has begun to introduce its line of X class trucks.

When the X class was originally announced it appeared that it was no going to be released in North America. It looks like MB has reassessed which is good because pickups are definitely taking a bite out of the lux car segment.

Note you are in Staten Island. I grew up in NJ and went to NY Maritime. I worked in an ESSO (yes ESSO) station in NJ before I could even drive. I don't remember seeing pu's in the NE when growing up. When I moved to TX the first time in 1984, there still weren't a lot of pu's here. When we moved back to TX the second time, one of my colleagues said I would need an SUV in self defense. You can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting a pu. We have a very successful MB dealer nearby who I am sure would love to be selling the MB pu. Personally I don't care for pu's, but there's a reason why the F150 is the best selling vehicle in the US.

A little. I have a Colorado as a company car and while it is a decent little pickup, it is not a Mercedes.

Personally, I don't get it. A "luxury" pickup truck? I can't imagine anyone who actually needs a pickup truck (e.g., for hauling around tools, doing farm work, etc.) driving this thing. I guess it's for posers, like those who buy ostensibly "off-road" SUVs and drive them to the office and the mall.
