Service Advisor: "I can't give you a quote for prepaid maintenance."

As the title states. I spoke to my normal Service Advisor today, and asked for a quote on a 40/50k or a 40/50/60k prepaid maintenance package. He said "I can't get into the system to give you a quote, because your current plan is not closed out yet." I pressed him and asked the question in three different ways, and the answer was the same each time.

Is it true, that dealers "can't get into the system" to generate a quote on additional prepaid maintenance, if a vehicle has a currently unfulfilled prepaid maintenance contract?

What is the going price for 40/50k and 40/50/60k plans for a W166 GLE350 4MATIC?

My vehicle status:
2017 GLE350 4MATIC
purchased in late 2018, preowned with 3,000 miles, I am the second owner
10/20/30k prepaid maintenance package purchased by me shortly after I purchased the vehicle
My local dealership performed the 10k and 20k services, on time (very close to the actual 10k and 20k mileage achievements)
Vehicle has 25k miles today
30k service is yet to be redeemed

Does anyone have input on this question - can Mercedes Sales or Service provide a price estimate for a prepaid maintenance plan, if an existing prepaid maintenance plan is active and not fully redeemed on a vehicle?

Update:

I received a quote from another dealer. $1750 for 40k/50k/60k prepaid maintenance, for a 2017 GLE350 4MATIC.

1. Is this a good price?

2. Why did this dealer give me a price quote, and my usual dealer insisted a quote is not possible?

Don't be too hard on your service advisor.. keep in mind, some dealerships operate differently than others.... Some will only let sales guys sell prepaid service/wheel and tire protection, etc., while others could care less. It really all depends.

Your vehicle (if memory serves me correctly) will be due for Engine Air Filter and Spark Plugs at 50k, and transmission service at 60k. If those services are included, it does seem like a fairly reasonable price... also, keep in mind you will be getting two major services and one minor out of this plan... all-in-all, not bad. Just my opinion...

If you are DIY or know an indy, you will save $ over the dealer, even if you do follow M-B service sheets.

Be aware that there are very few actual services being performed for this exorbitant amount of money, particularly with Service B. If you actually view the Maintenance Service Sheet for your car, you'll find that you're paying them to do things like check your horn, wipers, lights, tire pressure, etc.

Yes, "Let's see what we can find to point out and sell to the customer".

I can't tell you why one dealer said they couldn't give you a quote; I've been able to obtain quotes on such things from multiple dealers across the country.

If it wasn't clear, my original post above was in response to your question as to whether you'd been offered a "good price".

Thanks Mr. Toad. You are saying that not much work is done for the price paid, did I get that right?

Exactly. The MB "Service A" and Service B" system is designed to make owners spend far more on maintenance than is actually necessary. If you're extremely lazy, extremely wealthy, and don't know how to open the hood on your car, then by all means pay your dealer to verify that your horn works. Otherwise, consider paying them only for the tasks you lack the tools, space, and/or skills to do (e.g., oil/filter change, brake fluid flush, cabin filter, etc.).

Prepaid is expensive!! My A service is 225 at the dealer and 400 for B. Pretty reasonable, imo. 10k a year, that's only 313 a year avg. Not bad.

$400 for Service B is unusually low. It's $549 at my dealership with a discount coupon!

Latest quote for a 2017 GLE350 4MATIC with 31k miles:

40k and 50k services $1300
40k, 50k and 60k services $2000

How do these prices compare with others’ recent experience?

Has anyone purchased a 40k/50k/60k prepaid maintenance package lately? What price did you pay?

Do you not have any Benz specialist shops around you that can perform work like spark plug changes or transmission services? Seems like that would be the way to go. Dealer prices are crazy.

Thanks for the reply LILBENZ230. I will check, there might be one German-oriented indy shop in my area. I'm not against DIY, also.

The main purpose of this thread is to understand from other members, the going price for PPM.
