ML350 Automatic Transmission problem
I have the above car and sometimes in 2018 I had an engine problem and was advised to buy half and top engine. I did and the after the replacement by my local mechanic I discovered that there was oil in the water. When the mechanics checked he found that water had found it way into the gear box. I was advised to have it cleaned and change the oil. We did that and thereafter the gears only change into gear one and reverse. Then, I was advised to work on the gear box but this did not improve. I bought a fairly used gear box and we still got the same issue. This was changed and replaced last week and the car does not shift into gears two, three, four and five. It is stuck in gear one. What can we do now? For one year now I am stuck, spent so money with no progress. Can someone help me. I am writing from Yola, Nigeria.

This place is a joke.
The internet can't diagnose your transmission problem. A 2003 ML is not worth much, repairs may exceed the value of the car. It will have to be diagnosed by a competent technician, in person. Fluid level and condition, and fault codes should be checked first.

how much is my vehicle worth???
I think it all depends. You can find an ml350 2003 for as low as 2000, but if you inspect the vehicle before buying properly, you'll find that most of these low baller vehicles are falling apart or that the previous owner just stopped and gave up on maintenance. I think it all depends on the vehicle you decide to buy. I agree that if your ML is in not so great condition before mechanical malfunction, then it is a great loss of money to restore it and your probably better off buying another vehicle. But if you get your hands on a vehicle that was well cared for, you may be able to retain value despite general public criteria. I think to do this you must restore vehicle to as close mint condition or retrofit it with competitive modern aftermarket parts which will basically leave you with a shell.
At some point the 2003 ML 350 could be wiped off the face of the earth, and i think some people will still find this model year vehicle a valuable part of mercedes history, so the more ML's that get scrapped the better as long as yours is in tip top shape. what you think???
