Visited my local MD dealer for routine service on my wife's '14 ML350. I knew from looking on their website they had a Maybach GLS. It was kinda tucked away in a corner so not easy to get photos. I'll leave the editorializing to others. And yes the first number on the windshield sticker is a 2.
It makes me wonder. If someone is smart enough to have the kind of money to buy a Maybach in the first place, would they be dumb enough to pay an extra $100K? I'm a car guy, and I don't think I'd recognize this car if it passed going 70....

It looks like nothing more than a dressed-up GLS with questionable modifications, maybe it'd look better in a rap video.

I am like you. Some of these upscale models don't make a lot of sense to me, Maybach is on that list along with Lexus, Infiniti, Genesis. These are nice cars, but stretch the notion of the standard models they really represent using a different and marketed name. Marketing targets image, but you're still driving a MB, Toyota, Nissan or Kia.
On the ADM, SO many cars have ADMs routinely added on. The C8 Corvette, for example, is going on 3 model years and still commands a $10K to as much as a $50K uplift. The one that made me laugh however, was the ADM lift on the limited AMG GT Black Series, MSRPed at around $300,000. I saw two dealers, one added $250,000, the other $300,000. Still, they sold which is how a free market is defined. They were worth the money to someone.
Six figure market adjustment and they still want to nickel and dime you for nitrogen filled tires. There really is no end to the madness.
How about the $1000 for a TRAILER HITCH? Is it push-button retractable? Who is going to tow a trailer with a Maybach? Are you going to back your Maybach into the ocean (salt water) to launch your boat? And you still don't have a fraction of the conspicuous consumption value of a Rolls Royce!

At least you can see the hitch and know it is there, even though it is a crazy price. Unless you drain air from the tires and have it tested, who knows what's actually in there. In any event, the whole thing is madness, but I suppose someone will belly up to the bar and pay it..
