I have this thing, it works pretty well.

There was a big discussion about the oil sucker thing about three-four months ago as well. The oil in the C-class can be changed without getting underneath the car. The oil filter is on the top of the engine, change it, use the sucker to pull the oil out of the motor and you're done. I think it takes two tries to suck all of the oil out since there is an 8 quart sump on the C.

the window label came on my car when i bought it, and the digital gauge has been in the catalog for at least 2 editions (fall 2001 and spring 2002)... i have an accutire gauge myself and i love it. i'm thinking about getting this one though since i like the way it fits onto the tire better... anyone know if it's backlit?

why change your oil yourself when the oil changes are included in the 4 year maintenance agreement? when are we supposed to change oil in the C230K anyway, 7500 miles?

Some people don't like to go 10000 miles between oil changes. However, the large size of the C's sump and the use of synthetic oil essentially negates the old 3000 miles per oil change rule. But some will still want to change it more often. Considering most dealerships charge in the neighborhood of $100, this item essentially pays for itself with the first use.

i ask again, when should we change the oil first (and what interval afterwards)? i agree, 10k miles is a lot of distance to go between changes, but 3k miles is also not applicable to this car. i'm a firm believer that if you change your oil regularly, a well-built engine will last forever. i just want to make sure i do it right with this car.

If you want it to last as long as possible, I'd recommend changing the oil the first time between 1500-2000 miles. During the engine break-in period there is a great deal of wear as the parts get the feel for each other - this usually causes microscopic metal shavings to get in the oil as little burrs and imperfections on the moving parts are worn off. After this every 5000 miles is probably the best strategy. Then you change the oil between the scheduled mainenence visits.

is it pretty easy to change the oil with that oil change sucker accessory? i've never changed oil in a car before (considering i have no tools nor space to do it), but with this tool i'm sure i could find some place to do it in order to save $100

Totally easy, just stick the hose down the dipstick tube and suck out the old oil - it just takes two tries to get all of the oil out because the pump doesn't have enough capacity to drain it all in one go. The filter lives in another housing accessible from the top of the motor.

Won't even get dirty when changing the oil this way.

All of the MBs are supposed to come with the factory with one. Just sort of a coolness factor associated with it. The only practical reason I could see for leaving it on is that if you eventually sell the car - not having the sticker might be evidence that the windshield had been replaced.

I guess it's to distiguish a real MB from the imports that stick on MB front ends :p

Why did you turner ask to leave that sticker on...

Correct.

All New MB cars have the "a Mercedes-Benz product" sticker.

The Daimler-Benz sticker indicates a replacement windshield.
